Could any owners of this one give me a little feedback?

I’ve had 2 copies of this arrive dented & dinged (the 2nd is a replacement) form amazon.ca. I’ve not opened the cellophane as I need to return them, but the case seems thinner than a normal steelbook.

The dings I’m not worried about, but the front cover of both SB have dents I’ve not experienced with any other case. They have semi circular dents that look as if someone has pushed their finger nail into the case. The cellophane also seems to be perforated in similar places. Could it be that this is a bad batch or I have I just been unlucky?

Has anyone experienced any problems with this case, is it just the colour that’s making the imperfections much more obvious?

Two of most first steelbook purchases were KB 1 & 2 from amazon.ca and both had similar dings to the one you describe.

At the time, as a newbie, I thought that was par for the course and didn't know amazon replaced so readily to overseas buyers and didn't do anything about it.

Now I'd definately ask for a replacement, but it does seem these two steelbooks have had issues :(

Thanks mate,

I was the same, first SB I bought had / has a ding on the side where it opens. I just thought that’s what they all look like. Oh how little I knew lol

I’m hyper critical when it comes to dents, but I just now when they see the return the guy will be thinking WTF is up with this, as I was in the beginning. I’m going to reiterate what I’ve said to them in the past, use boxes / cardboard mailers for steelbooks!

My main concern is that all their stock is like this as the other 2 replacement SB (American History X & Inglorious) Are prefect this time & they shipped, then arrived together.

I wonder how many times they will replace it?

When I had a return to Amazon.ca they replaced once and when that arrived dented as well they said they had to do a refund as they couldn't do another replacement. So I just waited for my refund and then ordered again.

BTW, amazon.ca have always told me to keep the damaged steels I've had - it pays to email customer services with the problem rather than completing the returns section

They generally do, but on this occasion I ordered 5 and 3 arrived dented. I’m guessing they have a value vs shipping cost policy of some description?

As this is one is a replacement, I might need to re-order & go through the whole process again, with another replacement no doubt

Aahhh, I see :) Well good luck and fingers crossed they might start listening to advise on packaging. Not sure what's happened with them, always used to get things in cardboard.

You could always try Planet Axel - although I don't think you can return if dented and last package I got from them was just in a bubble mailer - so maybe not.

Axel have upped their game and amazon have regressed :(

Axel have started using thick cardboard mailers inside a decent jiffy bag. There's no way they would replace minor dents though.

I did get a mangled SB from axel and they replaced it after I uploaded a picture.

I can't decide: I have the first French Steelbook-releases of Kill Bill 1 and 2 but I like the outside artwork of the Canadian Steels better. On the other hand, I hate double dipping.
Region coding could be the decisive factor though: are the Amazon.ca-Steelbooks of Kill Bill 1 & 2 region free?

Yes.

Someone else helped me out with this link: http://bluray.liesinc.net/

It's been cancelled as it's already been replaced. They totally ignored my questions about inspecting the SB or shipping in cardboard :(

Time to re-order for another round of the dented steelbook lotery

why are you worried about region coding when you already own the one that are compatible to your region?

for Kill Bill 1 & 2, i've ordered twice already with amazon.ca and each time they come in dented. after reading the posts in this forum i suspect it could be stock issue...

Keep going with KB2. My first one arrived without any issues.

I’ve reordered KB1, so could see 4 potentially, but I’ll call it day after that. Can ask what the dents are like in your experience, are the on the front face of the case?

@ Malky78,

i've gotten deep dents on the edges like they were struck with a hard object on front and back for
both KB 1 & 2.

also, one of the KB1 had an almost 4 inch blade scratch on front (weird)

Thanks PHD, Those are definitely different issues from me.

I feel like a broken record and I’m guessing not many (enough!) people complain or return steelbooks. Otherwise I’m sure they would adopt a quality control policy & use some decent packing.

Ahh the old days of Steelbook collecting and the Alliance waves. I wonder how long it will take until these get another release?
