Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)
kimchipackaging02.jpg

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:
rsz_customs-kimchi.jpg

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

2 Reasons why I canceled this:
1. I still did not receive my T2 KimchiDVD exclusive
2. 2x T2 KimchiDVD exclusive incl. shipping(no ems)= US$ 79.28
2x Le Grand Bleu KimchiDVD exclusive (no ems)= US$ 106.56

In sum: I'm pretty shure I won't receive my two T2 Steelbooks anymore so it's a loss of ~80$ and I won't risk the same with my Le Grand Bleu order which is ~26$ more expensive

So it had nothing to do with the "hype". I was really looking forward to this, but I'm to disappointed with T2. (no invoice at all was on the package and customs don't seem to acceppt the invoice kimchi sent me per email.....)

My personal experience is that normal packages sometimes take a month or more for delivery to take place. Happened with a couple of packages sent to a buddy of mine. Took forever to be delivered, but delivery took place finally after a long wait

I thought u said you didn't receive T2, yet u say there was no invoice on the package

I got a notice from customs almost two weeks ago that the invoice is completely missing and asked kimchi to send me the invoice per mail I requested him to put on the package when I ordered it (what he obviously did not do). I sent the invoice he mailed me to customs but till now no reaction at all. So I think they will send it back because they don't accept the invoice kimchi sent me per mail.
That's why in my opinion it's just to much trouble and not worth the risk with Le Grand Blue........;)

Why don't you contact customs again?
One of mine also ended up in customs and tracking showed that it took them almost three weeks to process.
And I never had a package from Kimchi without declared value.

and as far as i know, it's the only site where you can choose not only the way the invoice gets written on the customs sheet, but also the order value in $$.
low value = less costums problems ;)

I haven't yet come across a mail order company who would put the actual invoice outside the package of their Blu-ray shipments. Amazon US - no, Barnes & Noble - no, KimchiDVD - no, Zavvi - no, ...

KimchiDVD puts the internationally used green customs slip outside their packages to describe the contents and declare its value.

I can understand that it may not be enough for German customs to work with, but it sounds like you are blaming KimchiDVD for the procedures of German customs.

Why not contact the customs and see what's the reason for the delay (as suggested by Moony above)? Summer holidays and the subsequent lack of personnel to deal with the workload?

That just seems plain weird to me. Your package is obviously stuck at customs (how else would they/you know there is an invoice missing?) and is clearly not "lost". The only thing you have to do is go to customs and pick it up. People working there have no idea what a steelbook is, just go there, reason with them and the worst that can happen is that you have to pay 19% import tax on the actual retail price, so what? Just pay up, sell one of them on ebay for the current going rate (appr. 70€) and you will have one beautiful steelbook left for yourself practically for free...

I never wrote that it's lost....
fyi "loss" doesn't mean the same as "lost"
Either I will receive it the next few days (As mentioned before I already sent the requested invoice to the customs office so there's no need to drive there) or they will sent it back to kimchi.

If there is no invoice on the outside of the package you usually get a notification by letter to pick up the package personally at your local customs office. It usually is sufficiant to provide a print out of the order confirmation, the PayPal payment confirmation or a print out of your order from your Kimchi account. In case of an Express delivery you are usually asked by DHL to send the requested paper work by E-Mail or fax, because they are doing the custom work for you. Thus nothing to complicated in my point of view.

Best wishes,

Michael

I know that and I already did that. I sent the printed invoice to my customs office almost two weaks ago and asked them for a postal delivery.....

But guys this is getting out of hands we are in the wrong thread and I know why I didn't give a reason for my cancelation in the first place.....
Everyone should be allowed to cancel and order whatever he want's.
I have my reasons why I canceled this and other's have to. Just be happy with your order and start discussing Le Grand Blue again and not my T2 order (I only mentioned that because you asked for a reason why I canceled LGB and you got one)
So please accept this and go on....;)

You wrote: "I'm pretty shure I won't receive my two T2 Steelbooks anymore so it's a loss of ~80$".

Thanks for explaining the difference between "loss" and "lost" to me. I'm not quite "shure", but I think somebody has "loss" their mind :scat:

Quite annoyed. Been waiting weeks for this. So I decided to do a check in my Kimchi account. Low and behold no order exists for this order. I check PayPal and I was definitely charged for the steel.
Sent an email out sharpish. Anyone else have this problem?

Anyone know how Kimchi are at replying to emails? Sent one yesterday but nothing.

Do not worry Tony will reply. But you must a little patiently to wait, now in Korea is early morning and it is a weekend, so wait until Monday and I think you surely get the answer. If not send another email or PM to Choi and I'm sure he will help you too ;)

Can't create an account. It say "check your email" every time. Any advise please?
PM me please

Thanks OP for this VERY helpful post. With the new Disney steelbook exclusives announced, it is good to know that they are a reliable retailer, and that you can order to the USA as an option in addition to a group buy.
