Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:
rsz_customs-kimchi.jpg

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

Customs are always hit and miss. The import duty is not what kills it, it's the ParcelForce handling fee which is usually around £15 on top of customs charges. Hatredhorror is right though, sometimes the 'Missing invoice' thing is a load of rubbish and is just a standard response they put on the website tracking and it just means it held for customs charges. Try calling them. I had the same issue a while back and it was just because they wanted to change me, not because the invoice was missing. Everything I've ordered for Asia (JSDVD or Kimchi) always has the invoice included and total written on the outside.

If you want a horror story I've got one for you. I ordered 2 x Iron Man 3 Taiwan from JSDVD. Just 2 steels, no mug or anything else. UK Customs read the total on the outside as 820 USD and not as Taiwanese Dollars. Even though I called them (and Parcelforce) and I had a scan and written email proof from JSDVD to say it's not US Dollars they still wouldn't budge. It is now on it's way back to JSDVD all because of a mistake (which is proven to be a mistake) at the UK customs end. I'll probably get refunded at Xmas for this due to ParcelForce sending it back as slow as possible. I ordered this and it was shipped a month ago.

Sometimes you just have to cut your losses. If you want it so bad, you gotta pay the price. If not, send it back.

BTW; my Monsters Inc has been sitting in Incheon for a full week now and will no doubt get hit when it's get here so I know how you feel but there's bigger things to worry about.

Nightmare for you :(

I have spoken to them (I did say this earlier, but it might have been in the other thread), and they did confirm the paperwork is missing.

I agree there are bigger things to worry about (my wife being made redundant for one, me suffering from depression for another), but it is frustrating to have to pay out for someone else's mistake

I am starting to get kinda nervous. I never got a shipment confirmation email from KDVD, and I paid for 1/4 and lenticular Monsters Inc exclusives on Aug 30 (day 1 of pre-order) and the order is not showing up in my history. Now it is sold out so I will be very disappointed if my order went into a black hole.

Kimchi - please contact me asap by responding to my email or PM me here on HDN.

Thanks

How did you pay? Does the payment show up in PayPal or a credit card statement ?

If so, send a copy to [email protected]

Not sure he actually comes on the forums, but Choi (who doesn't actually work for Kimchi) may also be able to contact Tony on your behalf, so drop him a PM as well

Paid via CC. I sent an email to Tony and "Help" at Kimchi a little while ago. The charge has stayed valid on my bank account for almost 2 months now. It's still there. But no ship confirmation, and no order in the history.

Hey Jimmy, just curious-was there ever a charge to your card for the order?

Nope. No change to card. No change of address. Charge still remains on my account too for the past 2 months. I'm anxious to hear back from Tony or someone at Kimchi. I hope it's not bad news. I was one of the first to put my order in, and quite excited about it, so if there's none left for me, and my order gets cancelled, it will be a sad day.

Pretty discouraged at this point. Multiple emails and inquiries via multiple channels, but still no confirmation from KimchiDVD about my order. I understand Tony must be busy, but this is too long to wait for a simple answer to a simple inquiry.

I love Kimchi's products and others aspects of the service, but as a customer who paid on preorder day 1, I feel that this is not fair to me. Everybody is getting their Monsters Inc steelbooks, but I am left to wonder if I even have one reserved.

Well, I received someone else's order recently. The k-packet info with my name and address for customs was correct but the address on the bottom corner of the box was for someone else. Opened it and it was the order for that person, invoice included.

Gave them an email and they apologized and will be sending out my order shortly. It has been a couple of weeks and nothing yet. Sent them another email last week and have not got a reply.

My account still shows that the order has been completed and sent. The previous tracking number is still showing.

Any ideas on escalating this?

I got my Tangled order today but for some reason the 1/4 slip Steelbook is missing in the box even though I ordered both the 1/4 and the Lenticular. :S
I have e-mailed them about it, hope it can be worked out soon.

Would love to hear some more of those words from you Choi. I sent you Tony's (unsatisfactory) reply to my email inquiry via PM. He is not taking the time to look up my order. Twice he has confused my Monsters Inc exclusive order with (first) my Tanlged order and (second) my Monsters Inc non exclusive order.

Anything you can do to help would be lovely. Kimchi has had over $100 of my money for that Monsters exclusive since Aug 30. I don't know what else to do.

Starting from Star Trek & After earth.

http://www.kimchidvd.com/en/good/goods.jsp?good_seq=19478

after earth price is 29.99$ and shipping cost will be lower than current

now they update the shipping cost , it will be revealed soon

and more gift with pre-order bonus will be provided.

Thanks for supporting kimchi !!

Hi Choi,
Will Kimchi lowering their price for the Wolverine steelbook to beat ksteelbook's price? Kimchi is $37.99 while ksteelbook is $36.99.

Much as I hate to say it, it might be an idea to get your CC company involved. There may be a time limit involved (PayPal is 45 days) so best do it sooner rather than later

Still didn't get a response regarding the missing Tangled 1/4 from my shipment from KimchiDVD, hope they don't ignore my issue, e-mailed them on Friday. :(

Still no update. Day after day, I patiently wait. It's been almost 2 weeks since my inquiry. I know Tony must be busy shipping out orders, but while everyone's order for LGB gets shipped, I still wait for my Monsters exclusive that should have been sent weeks ago.
