Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

Thus far I did not receive the stickers, although several packages arrived. Also I did not receive an answer, when asking for it. That is really disappointing, spending so many dollars on Kimchidvd orders and not receiving the corrected stickers.

Best wishes,

Michael

I asked them via mail (help[at]kimchidvd.com) back in June for this subject and got a respond saying that they would sent the stickers with my Snowpiercer order. :)

Bargain last question what's the difference between kpacket and the next postage up difference of $10 guessing it's just insurance ??
Going to let this one go but atleast I'm registered now for future releases

I'm not sure tbh lol, i've always chosen k-packet with Kimchi. Takes a bit longer than the one up but it does have tracking so you know where your package is, roughly

Offtopic: When KimchiDVD is sending something as a Gift or Merchandise they include invoice to the package? My stucked in the customs and they whant some info from me about the package -> payments etc. I would like to tell them that it is cheaper than it is...but if they will find invoice this will be ockward...let me please know;)

When you complete checkout you can choose whether they put the original value on the invoice or the value you specified. If you didn't select a lower value then it will probably have the correct price on the invoice.

I have lowered the value, but i don't recall what what named price...but the invoice is for shure in the box when it is merchandise? Do you think i have to mail to tony for info?

Quick question for you guys - Has anybody ever used Small Packet shipping from? I'm curious how reliable it is in terms of stuff getting lost/ delivery time VS K-Packet.

Its not for Kimchi but another company in Korea. They only offer small packet shipping and I want to see if its worth me ordering from them or not.

Any help/ comments ninjas can provide would be appreciated :)

@galareta2332 I just received my rush today and I chose merchandise with a lower amount on the label (one on box). Inside the box it had a printed out invoice with the real value. Hope this helps!

edit..I just looked at the options again. You chose merchandise with custom + original invoice correct? If so then the real value of your items will be on the original invoice inside the box.

Goshh...that's not good:) I send to the customs invoice with lower value. If they will open it there maybe some missunderstanding :muted:

I have generally always opted for a more sturdy and trackable shipping option with any international steelbook or collectible purchase. For regular international blu-ray releases I would go with the cheapest option, usually packet shipping. I haven't had an issue and I have used playasia, yesasia, kimchi and HMV. But for limited and collectibles, it just isn't worth the $5-10 savings to go through the hassle of a purchase lost in the mail or damaged on arrival.

Based on GB host experience for Frozen, People need to mark lower value and choose merchandise option (not as gift),
and not put too many steelbook in one box, 2 or 3 steelbook in one box with lower value could be acceptable from customs office.

I'm guessing that packages from Kimchi are not any different between different shipping options.

I only ever use their cheapest option, K-Packet, and that is pretty much the definition of sturdy - Tony doesn't skimp on bubble-wrap :D

K-Packet is a tracked/registered/signed-for Air Mail service and often takes only 4-5 days to arrive, typically 4-7 days
