Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)
kimchipackaging01.jpg

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)
kimchipackaging02.jpg

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:
rsz_customs-kimchi.jpg

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.

Still no reply from Tony, should I be worried? I've sent two emails and a request when I ordered memento this morning if they can ship the full slip perfume together

Bought 47 Ronin way back in April wich arrived damaged, sent them an email and was told to send it back for a refund.

Over 4 months later and after numerous emails I've still not received a refund and they've stopped replying to my emails now.:(

Sent an email to tony 2 days ago .. still no reply ... Judging from what people have said about them in past few pages, they pretty much such at customer service ... :/

Why do people order from them when they know there's no real support if things do bad .. ?

In the future I won't want to buy anything from them if they can't even reply to emails in a reasonable timeframe ..

Dang so Im not the only one? I received a banana shaped Rush 1/4 slip and Tony quickly replied that they would send a replacement. Hadn't heard anything for a month. Then I send another email asking what was going on and another quick reply from him apologizing and saying they will send out a replacement with tacking. Another month later and no more communication from him. This is terrible customer service and it needs to be addressed. Much worse than Zavvi!

What happend to Kimchi... My last order (Amelie) wasnt even delivered (postal office error) and since i definitly wont pay that shipping costs twice i asked for combined shipping with The Perfume.

Fail #1 Combined shipping wasnt possible, since it took em weeks to reply
Fail #2 They asked for my Paypal adress to send my money back (W T F ?!), do the even have an office?
Fail #3 Since my last mail (3 or 4 weeks ago) there was no kind of reply and ofc no money back till today

This was the last time i ordered from Kimchi, if i will ever get a steel from them again, ill use fleebay germany, since i get them for retail over here.

Def wont use their (ultra slow)website ever again.

€dit: this doesnt even deserve the words customer and service

Given some of the hassle members (and no doubt plenty non-members) experienced through the night in trying reach and clear checkout with Kimchi's release of Her, I think the crew running it should amend the need of both landline and cell phone numbers when it comes to dealing with international customers outside of Korea. Surely a landline number should be enough, as I can't imagine them wanting to run up the phone bill by calling a heap of international cell phones. In fact lets be real they can scarcely manage to get back to some inquiries in less than a month via email so it really seems like they shouldn't need two numbers from you. A simple change to this account info policy should help de-gum the works a bit and stress less folks out at at pre-order. Just imagine if this had actually been a steel with even more intense interest and how many people would have had a meltdown at sitting at their screen in the middle of the night like a looney trying to get an order in and being denied over something so silly.

I agree.
I think KimchiDVD should've at least notified their customers about this change. I don't even have a home phone number so it was definitely a change from previous orders. I tried about 10 times to get my order through and can only be thankful for this forum and it's members for that information.
In an ideal scenario, that information should have come from KimchiDVD. They have to communicate better; just like any kind of relationship, communication is key.

Was it a change? I remember having to put in both numbers a long time ago which is why I didn't have any issues this time.

I think so because I don't even have 2 numbers. :hilarious:
Since at least Snowpiercer, I only had to click on 'Yes' to pass on my info to whatever the below fields were. But I guess from now on, everyone should take note to fill in both numbers before preorder craziness begins.

Just wanna say thank you to KimchiDVD because IMHO it currently is the best steelbook retailer

- Exclusive artwork
- Lenticular goodness!
- lots of extra goodies
- regionfree and English subs
- the best packaging of all Steelbook retailers
- relatively easy to order through English website
- Clear communication concerning release date, looks of item
Only thing I'm having difficulties with is evading customs costs. You choose between different shipping options and marking of the shipping invoice. Everything I have to pay extra custom costs of €26 once it arrives in Holland. Perhaps Kimchi DOES give me the option to evade these costs but I just don't have a clue which checkbox to check?

You need to select a value below that at which your country imposes VAT. See post #903 on page 46 of this thread from shadow2351jl on how to do so.

Memento arrived safely today. Kimchi remembered to put the cheaper value on the customs slip for the first time in 3 and the package arrived in good condition. The more beaten up packages are usually those that have been subject to customs charges for some reason.

Well all I can say is what a shocking service from Tony from start to finish. At least I assume it's finished as Tony is no longer bothering to reply to my emails, I don't have the Blu-ray I pre-ordered or anyway to get a refund! First time and last time customer, here's my experience of dealing with Tony & Kimchi.

Sorry in advance for the long post.

My pre-order was late arriving along with other members on this forum. I assumed it was delayed in the post until I received a rather curt (I assumed that this was down to the language barrier) email from Tony 21st July informing me that my order had been returned to them as undelivered and that I needed to pay to have it sent again. I didn't receive a dispatch notice so didn't know it had been sent. (Not sure if they do this or not?)

I asked for the tracking info, why it had been returned and what delivery address had been used.

I received a reply 3 days later with an incorrect delivery address that was it.

I immediately replied stating that the address was wrong and not how it had been entered into the system. Again I asked for the tracking info, 2 days later I received what I can only assume what was copy & pasted tracking info. Again nothing else!

I replied stating I could see that the parcel didn't even leave South Korea due to the wrong delivery address this was the immediate response I received

"We have shipped as your information.

We dont know about it.

And if you want to get the down value in order to avoid the customs charge, you have to mark on customs slip as Gift USD20.00"

I explained that the email didn't makes any sense to me and that I entered my address correctly and if their system deviated from the information entered that isn't my fault. The fact that the blu-ray didn't even arrive the UK says it all. I also don't have to worry about any customs charges as I am in the Channel Islands and there aren't any.

That was the last I have heard from Tony and that was on the 24th July.

Since then I have sent 2 further emails, one on the 30th July and the other on the 8th of August. I'm still waiting for a reply.

I have just checked my account and can see that I have previously ordered Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters from them without a problem. The separate orders delivery addresses are identical, this fault lies completely with Kimchi.

yeah kimchi dont want to know when u contact them either

Has anyone had bad experience with kimchidvd return policy? I have emailed kimchidvd 6 times about my damaged smowpiercer type A box set, it turned up with one of the corners damaged, the outer packaging was fine so it was packed and sent this way. I sent pics to kimchi and asked if they covered return postage as its abround £30 tracked from uk. Tony replied and offered a replacement empty box but didnt answer my questions on if kimchi will cover return postage or if i could get a replacement. I explained that i do not open my kimchidvd steels so its not a solution im happy with, i need to send my damaged copy back for a replacement or a refund. Tony and kimchidvd are now not replying to my emails since i turned there offer down. All i want to know is if they will cover return postage as its expensive and if i will get a refund or replacement, what do i do now? any advice appreciated.

This is the problem with Kimchi, when it goes bad it really goes bad...

My first issue was with my Leon that had a dent in the corner, since they were oos/oop I could only return for a full refund. I asked about some discount for future steels, but no reply. I ended up selling it on my own. Same thing happened with another steel and then I decided to not buy anymore from them. I guess I will never get the Thor stickers, I sold that steel also but would like to send the stickers to the buyer (ninja member)

Yes, their customer service is abysmal.

I have sent two emails on the same issue and never heard back...2 months now.

Wow all these problems in the past 3 pages, one might be forgiven in thinking that they really don't care once that have your money!
