Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

Thought I was getting somewhere with Kimchi as Tony promised to send my Rush - fullslip with my Memnto order as replacement for damaged 47 Ronin I received way back in April. I even emailed him just before Memnto's release to remind him and he confirmed a memo had been sent to add rush to my order.

Well my Memnto order arrived this week but no Rush, emailed Tony again but no reply.:(

Oh latest update on my damaged kimchidvd snowpiercer box set, Tony promised to send out an empty replacement box 4 weeks ago, this was after about 8 emails over two weeks and finally getting a reply. The replacement box never did arrive and Tony isnt responding to emails.

KimchiDVD packaging rules!
I agree. But the kimchi's boxes are a tad soft. Crushed cases are quite common. I was warned by a fellow ninja here before. I thought the thick bubble wraps would always work. But not when the box is crushed from the sides, as happened to one parcel I sent to a buyer here:

It was a very painful loss.

:bag: A dead steelbook :( :ugh:

I guess there are situations where nothing will help to protect the contents. Awful to see that happen to a rare exclusive steelbook.

The cardboard of the shipping boxes are pretty weak. There are much thicker cardboard boxes on the market.... Also NovaMedia is using the same thickness as KimchiDVD does.

The boxes from all the Korean retailers are the same so far.

Hello there, I would like to ask you something, I have if anyone could comment, since for more than put me in touch with Tony, do not answer me ... I have a pending order to pay paypal (which I mistakenly called ), I sent several messages to tony and me I get no answer, something happens to have that order pending? there any way to cancel it? Thank you.

Does anyone know why my address shows up twice on the mailing label and how to change it?
I think the first address will be your account address and the second one the shipping address (which will usually be the same). You can amend your address details by going to 'modify your account' after logging in (apologies if you were already aware of this). :)

KimchiDVD don't seem to do addressing things properly - parcels have always been delivered to me just fine but my address has always been wrong on the actual label (despite it being entered correctly on their site).

I think it's simply down to the fact that they haven't ever worked out what the correct international address formats are.

UK addresses are formatted like this:

Name
Company Name (If Applicable)
12 Test Road
Town
County (UK equivalent of State)
United Kingdom
Post Code

Whereas they've always put them something like this on my labels:

Name
12 Test Road, Town
Company Name
County, Post Code
United Kingdom

Has anyone here ever bought from Kimchi using paypal without all the money being in your paypal account (and using your bank account automatically)?

Mine is set up like this, Name and then double space,

20876 Test Road, city, state, zip, 20876 Test Road, city, state, zip

USPS confused my house for a zip code that matches another city in my state. It got delivered there then forwarded to my house. I'm just glad I got my package a day later. Thanks for the help fellas.

I've just tried ordering from them the iron man I got a copy of each in my cart then it was asking me for area code for telephone which I tried filling in with all possibilities I could think of and then now I can't order at all as it's out of stock . Is it out of stick even though I have it in my cart ??

Yes, every Kimchi order I have placed is like this for me except 1 where I dared to pay by card and had to contact Tony to resolve a pending payment issue.
