Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

Small question regarding customs from your experience - have you experienced customs when ordering a package with 2 slips in it? I have ordered 2 on speerate occasions and they are now being held due to no shipments to Belgium but the seller asked me if I would like to have them shipped together or seperately.

In principle you shouldn't have an issues. Just make sure they are declared as merchandise not gift and whatever value you would have agreed on with Kimchi.

Hi I just placed my first order with Kimchidvd last week. They took the payment but nothing has happened for a week now despite the website saying it will be packed in 24 hours. Should I be worried?

Due to COVID-19 / flight cancellations Korea Post have suspended shipping to many countries, so depending on where you live shipping may not be possible until normal service resumes. I can't find a complete list of countries they won't ship to but here's a (potentially outdated) list from kimchidvd:

I've ordered over a month ago, but they still have heavy shipping restrictions. They communicate fairly quickly though, so send them an e-mail?

We note that K packet shipping will be open again to country ( Canada, Germany, Russian) from 29th of June 2020 by our post office.

Thank you for your kind understanding until now..

For this country, We will ship for the outstanding order from 29th of June.

Thanks

How often does KimchiDVD do sales/promos for in stock items, especially their limited releases? I'm guessing not too often, but just wondering!

Not often. They did a few around Christmas and Thanksgiving. One in the summer. Here are a few for guidance, there might be an instance or two where a thread was not posted.

So I've never placed an order directly from Kimchidvd. Does anyone know which invoice option I should choose if I'm in the US? Thanks

I'm tempted to place my first order from KimchiDVD. Does anybody know if shipping to the UK has improved since their notice about delays due to covid.

I don't want to place an order if it's not a good time to do so.

Thanks

I recently picked up a copy of Knives Out and The Incredibles. According to the tracking it left KimChi on March 8, and arrived to me just outside London on March 22.

The shipping was via K-Packet, which I believe is the only form of postage that’s actually leaving Asia to the UK, and cost me $27.36 at a weight of just over 1kg for the 2 slips.

According to the tracking the parcel spent most of its time at the International Post Office near East Seoul, where it arrived on the day of dispatch but didn’t then scan in again until it was ready to leave there 9 days later. At that point it actually then arrived at my door only 5 days later.

So in reality if there is any issue, it’s purely at the other end in leaving South Korea. It must be a very prolonged process to ship at the moment for them, especially to the UK, or they’ve got a large back log to work through; or a combination of the 2!

Either way the package arrived safely with no unexpected fees along the way thanks to KimChi being so customs friendly. As an FYI I requested the package be marked as “Gift” with a declared value on shipping label and invoice of only $10.

As for the time it took, I think it’s fair that it is to be expected and the norm for sometime.

Hope that helps!
