Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)
kimchipackaging01.jpg

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)
kimchipackaging02.jpg

6 layers of bubble wrap.
kimchipackaging03.jpg

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.
kimchipackaging04.jpg

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:
rsz_customs-kimchi.jpg

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

Have to say I don't agree with the Le Grand Bleu thread being closed, I didn't see anyone accuse Kimchi of doing anything dodgy

Most posts like my own were just expressing our confusion and seeing others with the same issue was more of a relief and the more people that posted with the same problem the faster it may have been resolved.

Carlos, the thread was not locked because of any comments made by members, not to worry. But, in instances like this (something obviously went wrong), we'd rather find out what is going on first, before a variety of 'guesses' are posted, because it inadvertently creates more misinformation and negativity. As mentioned, the thread will be re-opened once 1st party info that can help solve the mystery of what happened is available. Please feel free to continue to reach out to the retailer directly in the meantime.

Hey guys-re-opening the thread as some members PM'ed me and are getting e-mails from Tony saying that their payments are verified and all is ok. I've still reached out to Choi as well, but feel free to post if you are having a similar experience.

I, too, had the "Not Completed" mail - but got the "Payment Completed" mail not too long ago. Like i wrote to DB in a PM, KimchiDVD has never experienced this much traffic all at one time, so i am convinced this was a simple error caused by their system, trying to process all the orders and payments in such a short period of time.

All will be well :)

I don't think they sleep ever.
Whenever I mail them, whatever the time they always answer

My problem with Kimchi should now be cleared and I'm a happy camper. :scat:

I'm sorry, where in your post (#955) that I quoted did you mention that it was for both the slip and lenticular versions? Maybe it was you who misunderstood me. I didn't order the lenticular version, so it did not concern me, thus my order number of 2 max. As for the UK being the hotbed of steels, it does not matter if it is, or not. I'm sure Kimchi is ecstatic that they sold out in mere minutes. If you owned a company, would you care who bought your product? Or would you be happy that it sold out? It did extremely well without the UK did it not? With or without the UK, it would sell out regardless. First come first served, as it should be. I guess in this case, the old saying "you snooze, you lose" is especially true.

It was the post after that where you expressed confusion even though it was clear I was referring to both versions in the post you quoted:

https://www.hidefninja.com/forums/showpost.php?p=689909&postcount=998

I literally did snooze and did lose, so for once that statement is actually true. It shouldn't be that way though. If I owned a company, of course I would care who bought my products. Kimchi are not aiming for mass market here, so they should be trying to attract as many unique customers as possible, not selling multiple copies to a couple of hundred customers.

The simple solution here is for Kimchi to make the another batch available at the special pre-order price. That won't happen because they know they can charge the higher price. If this was Zavvi or Entertainment Store, they would be getting slaughtered. Zavvi raise the price of Aladdin and they get called rip-off merchants. Kimchi raise the price of this and they were doing us a favour with the initial price. It's funny how opinions are different depending on the reputation of the company.

I think the reason that most people aren't "slaughtering" Kimchi, is because they were and have been very open to what they would be doing with this release. Zavvi just decided to raises prices when they see fit without telling anyone. Which is in their right, of course. But, that's why some people have a problem with Zavvi and not with Kimchi. We were told from the beginning what would be going on with this release.

Well gollygeewillikers, I think we've come full circle! Like I said a few posts back, we're not on the same page. I have no idea, or even care what the max # of lenticulars that one can buy, as I did not order it. Wether the max was 5,7 or 131 does not concern me. I just think that you (along with many other people) didn't think it could sell out so fast. All is not lost, you have a 2nd chance. Just don't make any assumptions, lest ye be bit in the arse again. You know there will be a mad rush to get the 2nd batch. Screw this one up and you'll be SOL.

PS. Refer to my man Starlings post (1028) as to how to handle this situation if it ever comes up again. He is your fellow countryman, that guys got his act together. He wasn't snoozing when he shoulda been on watch.

I have been keeping an eye on this thread all evening, and tbh Snooloui I disagree with you on almost everything you have mentioned, apart from the fact that the total amount each person could order was way to high.
You just can't compare what Zavvi did with Aladdin, with how Kimchi have gone about with this release. Zavvi's retail price was £17.99 for Aladdin, and then they decided to charge extra with all the cancelled stock.i ended up paying the extra as I missed out on it first time.was this fair ? Maybe not,but I wanted the steelbook,so I bit the bullet and paid the extra.Kimchi have always stated that for the first batch there would be a promotional price, and then after that it would be back to the original price.
I set my alarm for 1am UK time so I would not miss this.even though I had to be up at 4am,to get ready for work.the reason I did this was because I wanted to make sure I got a copy of each.
My point being is...if you wanted it that bad,at the promotional price, maybe you should have set your alarm, and took the 5-10 minutes it took to order it.

So what you're saying is: I don't care because I have my copies ordered. Nice. No need for the smug tone though. No-one expected this to sell out so quickly (apart from the infinite source of Steelbook knowledge that is stevo I guess).

That's a fair point I guess but the amount of time it was available at the pre-order price was unreasonable.

What Zavvi did was not fair, but nor was this. At least with Zavvi, we had two full days to order at the original price.

If anyone's getting bent out of shape it is certainly not me judging by that response. You say 'duh' but the point was that a company had employed a similar practice, but the reaction has been the complete opposite. I also never suggested I was entitled to anything or that Kimchi should be doing this or that. I'm simply frustrated that I missed the pre-order price (and the pre-order full stop) and have suggested a couple of ways that Kimchi's practices could be improved that would leave everyone happy. As another member previously pointed out in another thread, it is wrong to assume about another member's personal situation, not everything is as straight forward for other members.

Oops, I think I accidentally thanked your post lol. Damn this new Ipad. Anyways, when you said that you are not entitled to anything, I don't know how true that statement is. Judging by your previous posts, Aren't you entitled to the promotional price of $42. I believe there are many examples in past posts that can verify this. And no, I don't know it all in steel collecting. I just left nothing to chance, unlike you.

I've made a serious point and offered a couple of suggestions for a better customer experience and you've just poked fun at those who have missed out.

Did they? Maybe I missed this (I didn't read the whole thread) but I'm sure it just said in the OP that there would be a 'pre-order promotional' price, but nothing about different 'batches' of pre-orders.

I do feel though that the people ordering the 2nd 'batch' are getting shafted. Technically it's still a pre-order so the promo price should still be in effect.

Either the price should have been the same for all copies for each batch, or they should have all been put up at the same time and orders limited to 1 copy of each variation per customer/account. If KimchiDVD really wanted to thank HDN members (like some people are claiming), they could have issued a discount code we could enter at checkout for the discount (for example).

That was a serious question. From alot of your previous posts, it seems that you think you are entitled to the discount as well. Yet you claim that you are entitled to nothing in one of your replies.

I posted about a couple of issues I had with the way Kimchi had handled the initial pre-order. I never claimed entitlement, if you could point out where I said this rather than trying to tell me what I think, then please send them via PM (I will probably ignore it anyway). You posted in a condescending manner and gloated about how you had got what you wanted and basically didn't care about anyone else.

Apologies to those sick of reading this crap. This will be my last post on the subject.
