Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

the options you have are K Packet which is around $10 for 1 steel, and EMS which is around $30 (which I used for 3 steels in same packet).
K Packet has some tracking but you do go days without any new up dates whilst with EMS you get a lot more up dates and the delivery time is a lot more quicker. With EMS I even had an up date saying that it was being loaded into the delivery van (Parcel Force).

Steve.

Thanks a lot for that Steve

should mention that the K packet fee goes up $10 for every steel. So 3 steels will be over $30. So if you buy more than 2 steels its best to use EMS.

Will only be ordering Leon, as I have everything else I want from there already bought through eBay and the trades section :D

I ended up sending another email through yesterday about my missing LGB Steelbook and got a response not long ago. Tony's promising me a refund if they don't hear back from Korea Post within the next week.

There's actually a few things Kimchi have right now that I really want, but considering my first shopping experience has been so far not a very good one, I don't know how confident I'd be in putting in another order.

Hi everyone,
I'm very new to HDN as well as kimchidvd, I'm planning on getting 3 steels from them, but I'm really confused about the whole "retailer's customs" thing...so can someone please explain to me what it is and how it works and stuff? And if I buy 3 steels, how much should I put down for them? (I live in the US), and what shipping option should I choose?
Thanks in advance!

While I was in the process of placing a order, I realised I chose the wrong delivery option, and cancelled the check-out. In my orders section it says "receipt of Order". What does this mean? I checked my bank account and saw no money leave, so I presume that I haven't been charged. So I placed another order and it went through. What should I do with this other order? Will it be cancelled automatically?

Just send an email to Tony with your order number and that you want to cancel it and he will do that for you ;)

Kimchidvd order and payment flow as below

sign in kimchidvd.com
place order into cart
confirm the address and choose shipping option
payment via paypal, credit card

if you not reach to paypal website, or credit card disapproval.

kimchidvd showed order status as receipt of order.

it means you need to pay for order to ship out.

or Tony usually cancel the order if payment is not received within 7 days.

Hopefully this description helps you understand kimchidvd order and payment rule working on their site.

Thank you very much for the info mate, got it sorted out in the end. Looking forward to the next Kimchi exclusive.

Had some problems with Kimchi in the past (had to to take a refund due to the 45 day paypal protection window), but they do have some absolutely amazing steelbooks. I would order from them again, however, not pay for the trackable shipping, as that seems to get held up at customs and UPS. The cheaper post office method IMHO is the better choice.

Okay, so I'm really worried about my recent order with kimchi.
I placed an order with them (around $120) but I was stupid enough to check on the "use the original invoice" as my customs declaration because I thought since Korea and USA signed the Free Trade Agreement, then there's no customs charged. But I just read online and they said US still charges customs fee based on the invoice.
So does anyone here live in the US and in the same situation as me? And know how much I'll have to pay for the customs??
Please reply! Thank you so much!

As far as i know...US will dont impose customs for goods < $1000
But maybe you will ask a US Member to be sure!
