Because there's no embossing on steelbooks, everything is actually debossed, and parts that aren't, look embossed, that's why you need the frame.
Only Metalpaks and ironpaks had actual embossing, and twice or three times as big.
Steelbook is the worst form of metal packaging I've always said, they've just been the biggest bullies.

Bullies? What? Was Scanovo being mean? And, of course steelbooks are actually embossed and debossed.


Metalpaks can be very cool, but they have their own drawbacks too.

Well, I've heard they sued Viva Metal Case out of existence, which is an even better than Ironpak packaging, with metal spine, metal rhods, and metal hinges. Ironpak has a metal spine and rhods, but they are held by plastic.

Metalpaks can be very cool, but they have their own drawbacks too.

Sure, their spines don't open all the way, and at one point, when they were transitioning to plastic bendable hinges, their spine corners when opened were sticking out inside with sharp metal corners, that one could splice their hands with...

Viva metal cases. They had a very short run early 2010s before scanavo crushed them and disney reverted back to steelbooks.

But so? They clearly broke Scanavo's patents, so that was the right action for them to sue.

It is a shame. It would have been nice if they could just coexist- there were some cool metalpaks and ironpaks.

Looks glossy and the eyebrow + nose ridges, lips and (bizarrely) the eye sockets are all embossed? A shame it's not the pattern, that would have looked incredible.
