Waxwork Records is thrilled to announce the film score debut of Léon: The Professional on deluxe vinyl. The 1994 action-crime-thriller film directed by Luc Besson (The Fifth Element,Lucy) stars Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, and features the motion picture debut of Natalie Portman. In the film, Léon (Reno), a professional hitman, reluctantly takes in 12-year-old Mathilda (Portman), after her family is murdered by corrupt Drug Enforcement Administration agent, Norman Stansfield (Oldman). Léon and Mathilda form an unusual relationship, as she becomes his protégée and learns the hitman's trade.

Waxwork Records’ new double-LP release marks the very first time the film score by composer Éric Serra has been released on vinyl. Combining both electronic and orchestral cues, Serra creates a score that is tense, yet beautiful, which compliments the film’s action sequences and the childhood innocence of Mathilda.

In keeping with Waxwork Records’ tireless efforts to create the highest quality soundtrack and film score releases on vinyl, the audio for Léon: The Professional was sourced from the original master tapes and then re-mastered for vinyl by producer and former White Zombie guitarist, J. Yuenger. The packaging includes 180 gram colored vinyl, heavyweight old-style tip on jackets with soft-touch coating, and new artwork by Oliver Barrett.

Léon: The Professional is available in two variants:

  • 2 x LP 180 Gram “Gunmetal” with Black Splatter Vinyl

  • Complete Score On Vinyl For The First Time Ever

  • Heavyweight Old-Style Tip-On Gatefold Jacket with Soft Touch Coating

Cheers, absolutely gutted I missed out on taxi driver tri colour so I've decided I want this. Art is amazing, cool vinyl, epic film and a fantastic score.

I would love it if they have a quick skit from the film with oldman shouting "EVERYONE" in that sentance before the music starts for that part.

How much was shipping for taxi driver mate?
Hi it was $22 usd to the UK it went halfway across the US before leaving the country so was worried but thankfully they used a strong vinyl mailer thick cardboard so it arrived in one piece.
I have to admit this looks awesome am really tempted

I just watched the film again tonight for the first time in a while. I definitely love the score to this! That said, I watched the Director's Cut for the first time and oh boy, I definitely prefer the theatrical cut. The DC made me a little bit uncomfortable at times.

I've only seen the directors cut once a few years back (seen the theatrical many many many times) but yeah I remember feeling the same and especially the way they make the relationship look. Ruined it a little. I won't watch that version again

Yup... the theatrical was a beautifully-told story. The DC was a bit creepy at times. And then I found out that Luc Besson was having an affair with a 15-year old at the time and everything kinda made sense with that Director's Cut. I'll definitely watch only the theatrical cut in the future.

I feel bad, though, because I told my wife how amazing it was and she watched it for the first time and it was the DC. She thought it was creepy and inappropriate.

Funny enough I watched the DC recently as well (new Mi4K BD) and felt the same. I'm more familiar with the theatrical version as that's the one I watched most since it came out. Watched the DC once on DVD but couldn't remember it.

Will certainly be watching the theatrical cut in future though

It really is a beautiful story, oh sh*t I forgot about besson and the 15 year old! Completely forgot

Downer about showing that version to your wife but hopefully one day she can watch the theatrical version with you (once the DC has been erased from her memory)

Wasn't the DC banned in a lot of counties at the time too?

Which colour is everyone going for? I like the Gunmetal variant, but then the Upper Street Side variant goes with the packaging better...

Hmm decisions!

Do we know what time this goes live?
I think they go up at a random time during the day... same as what Mondo do. I'm going to be busy for most of today, so hopefully it goes live during one of my breaks. :ohno:

Really liking the upper street variant.
Cool, didn't realise that I'm very busy today also

I'll go with the Upper Street Side variant I think :) For the same reason as you ^^

Ditto

I've now decided to have a day of working on the computer instead, so at least I can check Waxwork more regularly that way.
