Is this a pseudo-sequel, or what...
*Actually watched the trailer*
Oh... no, it's a standalone movie.

Amazing little crime movie, it felt like I watched something not only from the 90's, but it made me forget and feel like I was in the 90's, and that's worth A LOT to this 'elder millennial'! :D
There hasn't been such a quality film in a while, that didn't spoil its potential with unlikable or bad actors, ugly CGI blood, or dumb plot. This one felt natural, drew me in from the first shot and kept glued and interested to the very end. It's exactly the type of movie and story I love and used to seek out in the 90's, often finding little gems in the likes of 1999's "Made Men" with James Belushi, or 1997's "Truth or Consequences, N.M." with Kiefer Sutherland, among others.
This one will not be for everyone, but it'll be enjoyed by genre lovers like me.
Now where's that physical disc, I saw an announcement somewhere...
