True. But when scalpers takes most of stock out, this "high demand" comes from the scalper him/herself.
Scalper overdemands, participates in the "demand" as well as in the "supply", trying to sell the stock later at higher prices.

Manipulation of the market.

True. But when the Steelbook is "used", or have passed years after the "sold-out", and still "sealed".

just selling for what the market values it at. some things also fall in value, nobody complains because they bought something for half the price because it wasn't sold at 'cost value'

That is a fact. "Market values it all"
Even when sellers are considered mostly scalpers.
But there is no argument when a Steelbook cost "half of the price", because its price has fallen because of the "low demand" (and high "supply"). Even when discounts come from scalpers, who can't be able to sell their stuff at that prices.
