A big difference, we're not talking your average few minutes of different edits or more violence, a whole 28 mins are added to the directors cut. As a huge fan it's nice to own both but just like Cinema Paradiso the theatrical cut is the better tighter film. check out movie censorship to see the whole breakdown.

So two separate encodes with inferior picture quality to the US disc, which uses seamless branching
