Mate,

I have got parcels weighing 2 Kg and never had any issue. I don't think it is about the size. Maybe someone here works for customs or is spying us or maybe they have blacklisted few retailers, going to Internet to find out the actual price and wants us to pay extra.

In some sense we are dodging but it is all down to the stupid 15 GBP limit which is way too low. Look at Zavvi, they have priced all their Steels at 14.99 to avoid paying VAT.

Iganz316 you are correct I'm getting fed up and losing hope with JSDVD email replies.

This one I received today after sending 10.

Dear Customer,
We apologize for reply late.
We mark down and GIFT for everyone, but we can't control the customs of each country, we just do our best for all of customers.
That was the first time we received customer rejections returned parcel.
We assume that when you returned the parcel was chosen to give up your postage.
Please let us know if you need update orders.
Sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.

Best Regards
Sammi. ^_^

Now can someone explain what he means by:
"We assume that when you returned the parcel was chosen to give up your postage."

All I want is the money to be used against shipping cost for my orders of Life of Pi and Hobbit or a refund. But they don't seem to get.

Just ask your bank, ask them the procedure for filing dispute and do the same. I checked with my bank. They said to write a letter to them with all the details, they will take care of the rest.

I think I will probably not pre-order from these sites at all and just try my luck in eBay.

I've just had a look on the EMS site to see where my item is, and it says:

Attempted delivery(1st) Mar/28/2013 11:06
Reason for non-delivery Payment of charges

Does that mean I am getting hit with customs charges, despite me asking 3 times for JS to mark it as valuing less than $25? If so, I will never be using them again.

Oddly enough, that info on the EMS site doesn't necessarily mean that Parcelforce have attempted delivery. The EMS tracking site (www.track-trace.com/post) is useful for tracking progress through Customs, but then for detailed delivery info you would need to switch to www.parcelforce.com. Only if it says attempted delivery on the Parcelforce site have they physically tried to deliver it. And that would be very unusual without first sending a letter to ask for payment of any charges.

It sounds to me that charges have been levied by Customs and that the package has been released to Parcelforce, but that you haven't yet received the letter from them to ask for payment of charges before delivery?

Thanks for the clarification.

Nope, I've received nothing. No letter, no card, nada. The only reason I know something is up is due to checking the EMS site.

Will the tracking number with Parcelforce be the same as the tracking number for EMS?

Yes, though it'll change to an ECxxxxxxxGB number when you enter it.

Parcelforce are the agents for the delivery of EMS packages in the UK, so you will get detailed info from them on your shipment.

My guess is 'held awaiting payment of charges', which means you'll need to wait for their letter.

My tracking number for EMS is EE680692057TW, so I changed this to EC680692057GB on the PF site and it says "We are currently unable to confirm that status of your parcel. Please check the number and try again. Please note that items sent over 4 months ago cannot be tracked online. If you are tracking a parcel sent from outside of the UK, we may not have received it yet. Please try again or use the help button below." not very informative, unless I've entered the number incorrectly.

I just tracked it myself mate and it's at your local Parcelforce depot in Preston awaiting payment of charges. You'll be receiving a letter from Parcelforce in due course.

Don't worry about changing the tracking number yourself. Just put the EMS number in and it'll do it automatically. Mine still says 'Held' but when I click tracking details just under this it gives a detailed breakdown of the tracking. Mine's 'Awaiting payment of charges'.

I might just call them up and get them to send it back. I know it'll take time to get my money back of JS but I really don't wanna spend £60 on this.

To add insult to injury the last time I received a package from JSDVD that had been charged by Customs, it turned up like this:

After having paid £25 charges for the privilege of receiving it, I wasn't too pleased...

Thanks, guys.

Annoying as **** that I'm getting charges for these 2 copies, if the charges are over £15 I will be refusing to sign for it and asking PF to return to sender. I won't be using JSDVD again, their customer service doesn't seem too good and they don't seem able to follow simple instructions. YA have always been great for me, and I have 2 of these on the way from them so I'll just keep those ones.

I don't understand the complaints by getting hit with customs charges.. you ordered the items from out of country. You should know you might get hit with customs charges. It is just a courtesy that some companies offer to put lowered values on boxes.

Not really. If you declare as we requested then there is no way of customs charging for the item. I think they didn't do as requested or declared different amounts on customs form and invoice.

You can comment sitting stateside as you need not go through these hardships but across the pond we are a bunch of frustrated overtaxed folks. The reason behind this is the 15 GBP limit which is tooooooo low. In fact it is a disgrace.

15 GBP is very low.. I am not disputing that, and nobody else here is. But you know the limit and if you go above it, there is a chance you could get hit. I'm just saying that some retailers do you a favor by marking the value for less than it really is, and it's not something they need or should do.
