The fact is that Manta started with a very expensive price ($70 shipped) for their first release of an "old" movie.
The Bluray can be found at $5 in lots of shops. So basically you pay $50 the for the packaging only.
When you pay a premium price, you expect a level close to perfection.

Nobody knows Manta, it's their first release. Maybe if they started with more affordable prices (even if they loose some money at the beginning) for their first release (like all retailers when they started: Kimchi, HDzeta, BF ect) and increase their prices later, lots of "unhappy" customers would have been less exigeant and more tolerant for a first release.

Not at this price.

Only a thought, don't hit me :naughty::p:emb:

very good idea :D Open a business and lose money? lol. The price was low back then and still is in China; HK price will never go down even for a $1 Walmart BIN movie that you want to do an exclusive for.

What would you term close to perfection? What is perfect for you may not be perfect for someone else. Else we and our spouses would all look alike :D I understand you are not happy; There are several people looking for copies. Maybe you should put it in the sales thread if you dont want it. If you joined the GB and want to redirect your copies to another member then I would be happy to do so. I know Manta and I am not Nobody :p

Aniv do you know if any other photos will appear of the full slip before the re stock tomorrow?

I've just signed up to manta and probably going to jump on this tomorrow if It don't go too quickly but I just wanted to make sure those pictures are accurate of how it will look in hand with all that lovely colour on the slip

I can ask them to take pics in few hours but cannot guarantee they will. Will post here if I hear anything back.

Yeah people dont realize how expensive HK blurays are. I just looked at HMV HK and Yessasia HK and the standard amaray is $27 and the 3D amaray is $66:wow:o_O. With that considered Mantas price is where it should be. Still expensive but saying the price should be lower because they are new isnt the correct assessment. And that Exclusive sticker is AMAZING!! Is it lenticular with the the two dots simulating Supes heat vision?!?!? Crazy innovative!

You probably don't have a business, do you? I have 4employees. The first 6months or so, i couldn't pay myself. I worked hard, made lots of discounts and had to deal with lots of disappointments before i could expand and hire people to help me. That's How a business rule for lots of us, you have to build a reputation in the first place. If you're not competitive and open to criticism, you're out.

Like i said, i know that "perfection" is subjective, that's why i underlined the sentence of people NOT liking the full slip. I just said that MAYBE according to THEIR IDEA of perfection, they could have been more tolerant if the price were not so high for an "old" movie. Especially when it is a new company.

I'm not in the GB because i was avalaible at the time of preorder and didn't want to take a copy from someone who could only have a copy through GB.
I like your efforts and work on GB, but please do not patronize people when one are not thinking the same as you. Ok, you have some arrangements, friendship or whatever with Manta i get it and i understand that you overreact when people bash them but no need to tell me what i should or could do with my copy if i'm not Happy, thank you.

And if you've read my previous post a page ago you could have seen How i was impressed by the quality of the slip and their work on it. I just said that MAYBE people (IN GENERAL, NOT ME PERSONNALLY) are not as tolerant as they are with other retailers because of the high prices asked by a new company that no one have ever heard of before, that's all.

Hope you take it the right way as i don't want to sound mean, but something may be lost in translation and that's not my intention :shy:

No personally I dont really care much. Not everyone will be happy as long as most people are happy thats good enough for me. I have a family owned business since over 40 years now and yes its important to build reputation and trust but you dont have to be at a loss. Anyhow thats your strategy and absolutely fine with me :D No offense taken at all. This is why we are discussing and suggesting.

Anyhow here is another pic from a different angle.

Thanks @Aniv ! Not too long now for MoS. hopefully more details on Deadpool soon..

Yes artwork is in approval stage right now. Soon :) All GB orders will ship this week. I will provide a link to spreadsheet with tracking numbers once its done.

Great hosting of MoS, @Aniv. You just can't please everyone and those that can't just seem to try to be negative throughout the entire group and won't let it go. You don't like, or how Manta Lab is doing their business. Fine. We know. Drop it and move on. It's not that serious.

Thanks for your support in the GB's.

Now what are you people going to ***** about? The second pic shows the holofoil effect is going to be just like the Novamedia Avengers full slip, as expected. It is going to be awesome, not to mention the embossed texture effect... Can't wait to get it. Can wait for more. :)

I think some people was a little bit too harsh towards this release. You guys said the price is too high for a new company without reputation, but then because they are new, so there, of course, will be some mistakes about how to execute the steelbook packaging perfectly, so should we be more easy on them? Plus, like others said, the price is basically based on how much blurays cost in HK, so we shouldn't complain about it. We are in US, so we can get movies like this for $5 or less, but they are in Asia, they'll have to pay premium price for it. Same thing with some Asian releases (not particularly steelbooks), I'll have to pay extra to import them.
And also, even though I admit the holofoil MAY be over-used a little bit, but I give them full support because I see the efforts they're trying to make to impress us (c'on, the lenticular sticker is so kickass, full slip embossing is amazing and the lenticular will turn out amazingly too, that I'm sure of). So as for their first release, I think they have done a beautiful job. Sometimes, we all need to sit back and think about the other side of the story too.

Boo Yaaah! That's much better!! You can actually see the sky from that angle!

I think people are really going to town on Manta at the moment because of the unknown. Chill people, this is Manta's first release, SURE they didn't take any risks price wise, I.E by releasing this cheaper at a loss, BUT they didn't need to as they are close with the collectors and are trying to make a desirable release. IT is a bit more expensive than we are used to due to HK economies BUT I think they are trying their best to give us the best releases possible with Holofoil, embossing, texturing, Lenti stickers etc. etc. etc......

At the end of the day they are trying their BEST to please the collectors and start a new business that won't lose money or fail. I think they have made a great start!! You can't please everyone but as long as you got the majority, and they HAVE, you will make it, and the only way is UP UP AND AWAY for Manta!!!

I hope they experiment a bit with their next releases! I for one would like to see some matte slips with spot-holofoil even included on the back of a lenti slips  AND Manta...you HAVE to start making boxes for 1-clicks, everyone else is doing it now HDzeta, FilmArena etc. BUT please if you do this then don't let it delay releases or give release dates that are realistic and take into account making of boxes (hand made) that takes time. :hungry:

New pics look much better as the detail isn't as washed out by the holofoil. As I said before the steel looks fantastic and the attention to detail on it is first rate. I reserve judgement on the slip until I have it in hand or at least see some in hand pics but it's certainly put my mind at ease a bit more.

I'm relieved. In the first pictures, it looked a bit too colorful (still great). Now that we see it under more natural lighting, it's just gorgeous.

Thanks @Aniv !
