I'm at Walmart right now and they have a magnetic pre order card with what looks like a steel on the back cover and front.

So this is what I was thinking.
When you pre ordered via the pre order special at Bestbuy, you had to take back the original receipt to collect and receive the discount for pre ordering.

Sample situation.
I pre order man of steel and get the magnet. I sell the magnet to some chap on eBay. I still hold the original receipt therefore the only one who can claim the pre order, or is it based on the magnet. Most pre order to pick up in store I believe.

So is it the receipt or the magnet that is important. I am thinking receipt

The magnetic card its only a gift from Walmart to get our attention. The card inside with the code its more important cause once you redeemed it, VUDU will send to your home address (not the store) the combo pack (steelbook), also you will get additional movie features from VUDU. The receipt it's also important. If you are not happy with your purchase and want your money back simply go to the store with the sealed copy and the receipt for a full refund. If you have the card and no receipt don't worry.

Today I'm gone visit the 3 Walmart stores in my place. Maybe we got a couple of these. Also the one with the magnetic card is cheaper than the in-store one.

Do we have any confirmation that the magnetic card will definitely get you the steelbook?

Not yet but I'm thinking it is not. DB posted there is another exclusive that includes Vudu (which came with the magnet) but the steelbook listing has no mention.

JCM, this is very confusing for all of us-I am in the US too, but didn't originally get the magnet, because I was disappointed by the movie. I would say you could always order the one that says 'Steelbook' on the website (and hope that's what they send you), and then return the other one they send you for the magnet to the store. However...I am myself completely new to pre-orders at Walmart, so someone else more knowledgeable in this particular area-please feel free to jump in, too. I have a feeling that, as many different versions of Man of Steel, as there will be (across the world, etc etc), that's how many solutions to this, we'll have :hilarious:

Thanks for clearing that up DB. I was sure our Goddess would have the answer;)

Just for peace of mind....I am going to order the steelbook from the link also. If the magnetic card pre order happens to be a steelbook than great! If not, I can always return to Walmart. If both are steelbooks than I can simply choose which one is of better condition and return the other knowing that Walmart doesn't have the best packaging so there is a chance that one will come with possible damage. I have never ordered from Vudu so who knows what their packaging is like.

How often has Wal-Mart had two different exclusives of the same movie released at the same time? :wtf:

I am not sure but one read that pre-order card very carefully it does seem to suggest that they will send the 'Exclusive' that mentions 'Vudu' in the description and not the Steelbook, which doesn't mention Vudu. Usually if it is a Steelbook you get, they will say so...but, it is very possible that either Walmart sends the 'other' version or that you will get the Steelbook. There have been errors in listings and fulfillment such as this through all retailers (Amaray vs Steel, wrong sku, etc). As a side note, Vudu is just Walmart's video on demand service, like Amazon VOD, Playstation store, etc where you can buy and instantly watch movies after download-and actual movie is coming from Walmart, or one of its distributors that fulfills their orders. Since multiple links exist, I will add a note to the OP.

I did the same. Worst case scenario I have to return one.

Hey Charlie, are you sure you can pickup the Steelbook in store with the card? The back of the card posted in the 1st post of this thread in spoiler says you register the vudu code, enter your shipping address and they mail you a combo pack with vudu content...no mention of the Steelbook at all. You don't have an option of which one you want during that registration process.

Walmart currently lists 3 exclusives on their site and the magnetic card is pre-paid, no? If that's true I am confused as to what you would be picking up in store? (again, card says they mail you the movie) http://mobile.walmart.com/m/phoenix...3A57109#search/man of steel blu-ray exclusive

Just fyi Ultraviolet is headed by multiple studios and not owned by Walmart. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UltraViolet_(system)

If I am not mistaken, Ultraviolet and Vudu are different. If you go to Vudu.com and go to the contact us page, it shows jobs listed at jobs.walmart.com. Charlie was right about Vudu, but not Ultraviolet.

Bantha, yes that is correct-my post above referred only to the 'Ultraviolet' portion:)
