Restored in 4K in 2026 by StudioCanal at L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory, from the original 35mm A/B camera negative and a 35mm interpositive.
Audio restored at Audio Mechanics laboratory, from the 35mm magnetic sound 6-track master used to create a new 5.1 mix.
Grading supervised by Michael Mann at Company 3 laboratory and finalised at L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory

Usualy the limited editions are a digipack in a slipbox but it can vary with releases some can be a slipcover release

and also remember Michael Mann likes to tinker with his films, colour timing, dialogue changes etc, etc....
There are so many alternate versions with little differences.
You'll be watching a version and then notice that a line of dialogue that you love is not there anymore.
Company 3 is the best post production coloring house in the business. So that gives me hope that the color grading will be excellent. (IF Ritrovata doesn't screw up the work that Company 3 does)
That's why I hoped Arrow would do this; their "Thief" is unaltered (but only on blu...).
Yeah, what I meant was: Theatrical is presented only on the exclusive second disc (in the 4K Limited Edition from last year), which is blu ray.
That was a beautiful edition, but I suspect it will be more like the recent The Devils Backbone.
Yes, unfortunately I can't forget the two dialogue changes in Heat. I love Diane Venora' line " You sift through the detritus " which he removed on all Blu-ray and 4k editions and now only exists on the Laserdisc and DVD as well as Pacino' line " Ferocious aren't I " cutting Pacino in full flow is a crime. I still prefer the Warner Blu-ray although it has the two dialogue cuts it retains the original colour palette and the theatrical sound levels which were unfortunately reduced on the 4k and remastered Blu-ray.
Revisionist directors are starting to tire me. Especially when the original is discarded.
If only we get an option here to watch the original cut, so I don't have to buy Shout! blu for two hundred bux on fleaBay.
