I received my copy today and I have to say it isn't great in my opinion. The matte finish and bare metal looks and feels a little poor. The title looks good debossed and I think it is glossy (if you run your fingers over it you can feel it, a bit like The Aviator), but the 'movement lines' do not feel glossy at all. I kinda regret paying full price for this, considering the quality of recent eOne releases. I fear that The Raid 2 is going to be disappointing too, luckily Divergent seems to be a cut above.

I think the 3D is to make up for the one dimensional characters in the film. Shame as I like Aaron Paul, he needed more material to work with.

Unfortunately the 3D is one of the worst out there. The film was made for and shot in 2D. The studio forced a conversion only a matter of weeks before release and it certainly shows. There's no scenes that utilise the format at all. :(

That would make a lot of sense for it being £17.99 with a 3D disk.. Good point mate

On a side note, I'm very pleased with the steel. It looks pretty much bang on the money as the mock up. Maybe a richer gold colour was needed, but I'm happy overall.

The slip is cool too - no funky spunk glue dots in sight :hilarious:

Arrived today safe and sound.

Reminds me that ES Steelbook packaging can't cost much more than Zavvi are paying for the crap mailers, and there is an element of more safety about them!

Back on topic - happily doesn't have the two dents, or any others. Happy enough with the finish; it's not Mulan, but that's lusch :)

I'm a bit dissapointed with this, in hand it looks a bit dull. There's too much bare silver and the title doesn't seem to have any spot glossing as far as I can see.

Actually if you look at the mock up you can clearly see that it is silver and not white. Note the faint diagonal streaks, indicative of a silver finish. Pity about the spot gloss or lack of.

It also was confirmed a silver finish way before release (it's a few pages back, I think)

The title is spot glossed as is the gold lines either side of it but they are much harder to see, you have to hold it at just the right angle to see it!

Yep I was always aware that it was going to he silver because it was mentioned early on. I was just hoping that some vivid colouring on the gold title might have made it look decent. It just looks very flat, I'm not even sure gloss would have made this look any better. I think the mock up pic looks better than the finished steel but that happens a lot unfortunatly.:(

This is true for most 'white' Steelbooks. Compare the mockup to a white part of the forum and you can easily tell. If you look at white Steelbooks like Foxy Brown, Jackie Brown and Warner series, the artwork almost blends into the background. That said, the mockup for Rurouni Kenshin is most definitely white but that turned out to be bare silver. It's probably best just to wait for actual if it is a deal breaker.

I love the simplicity of this steel and the gloss title IMO is really well done. The finish even draws your attention to the colours on the cars. For the price and its a new release, I'm a happy man.
This was also a blind buy for me and I have to say I thoroughly enjoy this film. Pedictable fun!!!
