Newbie with a question

Hi, i'm new here and have a question. Are steelbooks produced for just one region? The reason I'm asking is because I'm wanting to get the Independence Day steelbook, but the one i've seen is for region B. I know that won't play on my player, so were there any made for region A? Or do I get it just because I think it looks cool? I really want a blu-ray of the movie.

Your best bet is to buy a Region Free player. The only problem with that, is there is nothing stopping you from ordering any steelbook. Most steelbooks are for the region releasing it only. Any that are Universal, Warner and Sony are usually 99% of the time region free. Or you can do what I used to do. Buy the Steelbook and replace it with the correct region disc.

Hi-my player is modified so that it can play all regions-why? because the U.S criterion editions are mostly region a locked and-frankly-are some of the best versions of films available-do not deny yourself the pleasure of brilliant worldwide titles

So can you just go into your local electronics store and buy a region free blu-ray player? i don't think I have ever seen any.

you could just buy a cheap disc only auction on ebay or something and put that with your steel book. could be a cheaper alternative before getting a region free player.
