Hi Ninjas!

*This thread is for nominations only*

Welcome to our 4th annual tradition of the HDN Steelbook of the Year nominuation chat!
Every year, we open a thread so that you can chime in with your own personal picks of what Steelbooks should be included in the VOTING POLL (posted in January 2015), so we all can vote for hidefninja.com's annual tradition of 'Steelbook of the Year'.

In this thread, please list your favorite 3 Steelbooks only , released in 2014 that should be considered for the poll. I will once again tally all of the picks, and rank them by the # of 'nominations' (mentions) they each receive. Only the first 3 you mention will be counted. Please list the Steelbook, the retailer, and the country-be as specific as possible. Feel free to add why you think your 3 choices should be considered, but please do not post more than 3. The top 25 nominated Steelbooks will be included in the poll.

**A list of Steelbook releases can be found here in the 'Upcoming Releases' thread.

After that process is complete, our annual poll will be posted, and you will have the chance to vote for as many choices as you wish-but you can only vote once.

As in previous years, the Steelbook with the most votes will become the community's pick for 'Steelbook of the Year'.

This nominations thread will close 1/10/2015 (all nominations posted until 12:01 mid EST on 1/10/2015), and we will start to vote on 1/15/2015 until 1/31/2015.
Thanks everyone for participating!

Past winners:

2013: Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Zavvi-UK)

2012: The Raid (Play-UK)

2011: Thor (Worldwide)

Well thats the last of the steelbooks I will be receiving this year in and opened, as Iron Man etc won't be in anyones hands till 2015.

So after browsing what has arrived this year my final top 3 choices are

1, Maleficent Zavvi release
2, I Saw The Devil PA Pet full slip
3, Captain America Winter Soldier Nova Full Slip.

Hi guys-there is and has never been a rule that each person can only post 3 choices overall in the 'entire thread' over the entire course of the 'nominations' period. I have asked for members to post only 3 per post because I will be adding all of these up by title, and 3 makes it easier to compile choices from 100's of posts. Every year we have had a vote, the 'most' nominated Steelbooks have always risen to the top to be included in the final list of titles to be voted on. Again, the top 3 choices in each nomination will be used as nominations for the main voting thread. Thanks for your participation in this community vote-lets please get back to sharing your top 3 picks for this particular topic. Thanks all!

If that is the case then the OP needs to be reworded because it clearly says to only post three choices with no mention of being able to post multiple sets of nominations.

Erm... I'm a little confused as to why, out of all the posts discussing the legalities of having more than three nominations, my positive and supportive one got deleted

Anyway, what are the chances of recognising more specific types of release such as Best Lenti / Best Full Slip / Best 1/4 Slip / Best Set / Best Digibook etc?

If it's not too much extra work for you DB of course ;)

Zone, a number of ot posts were cleaned out-the thread is only for nominations:) We've had votes for other categories of items in the past, and I am sure they'll return in the future once folks can lead those in their respective sections.

Thanks guys for understanding the need to keep this thread focused on nominations for our vote to come a bit later.

1) Drive (Mondo Art, Futureshop, CA)
2) Ender's Game (Mondo Art, HMV, UK)
3) V for Vendetta (Zavvi, UK)

I ordered the Gallery 1988 version of The Fifth Element based solely on the artwork, but until that arrives in hand I didn't want to nominate it.

Looking through my collection there have been so many great steelbooks released this year. I'm definitely more of a fan of Asian releases with different variations etc, but I have tried to specify which version if needed. With the exception of CA2 I've picked WEA exclusive releases to reflect on the award title 'Steelbook Of The Year', though I do really rate the CA2 Full Slip from Nova which is why I've included that.

From the ones I have in hand, these are the 3 I want to nominate:

1. I Saw The Devil (Plain Archive) (Korea) - PET Slip
2. Her (KimchiDVD) (Korea) - Full Slip
3. Captain America:The Winter Soldier (Nova) (Korea) - Full Slip

Unfortunately I don't have Drive or GotG (Nova) in hand so can't comment on those yet.

Other worthy mentions:
Ender's Game (HMV) (UK)
The Pianist (KimchiDVD) (Korea) - Full Slip
Rush (KimchiDVD) (Korea) - Full Slip
Perfume (KimchiDVD) (Korea) - Full Slip
How To Train Your Dragon 2 (HDZeta) (China) - 1/4 Slip
Frozen (Blufans) (China)
Thor: The Dark World (KimchiDVD) (Korea) - Lenticular Slip
Snowpiercer (KimchiDVD) (Korea) - Lenticular Slip
The Raid 2 (Entertainment Store) (UK)
