A tweet from CM on the 23/03 :rofl:

Every mea culpa they make always includes something about how the accuser is always mean or rude (even though in this situation they have every right to be). It’s probably safe to assume most, if not all of their releases have used art they didn’t pay for or commission. They almost assuredly aren’t officially approved by the studios either. I know the Joker lenti is just from an Instagram of someone who does unofficial creations.

You don’t get called out publicly, admit you did the thing you were accused of and then turn around and do it again if this hasn’t been your ‘business’ model the entire time. Embarrassing.

@paulboland what does he mean with official creativity? is it some sort of official artwork package (in lack for a better word for it) that is included within the licensing fee one would pay to the studio?
It's different when the film studio themselves are doing a re-release using artwork already they approved with another distributor label
Film Studio own the artwork and can re use it later

This though is not a re-release from the film studio themselves it's a been released by a independent label in Italy
CM would still needed to get artwork approved with the distributors licenced to do Sony pictures releases in Italy

So it’s your understanding that they neither have an agreement with the distributor nor the artwork artist?
Manta Labs did for their release with the Artist get approval and that artwork then was approved by the film studio to be used
Sony themselves can re use that artwork on later releases

This CM release though is not Sony doing a re-release themselves so CM need to get artist approval unless Sony has given permission to the Sony licenced distributor in Italy it can be used.

Yes I misread your original post, apologies. Thanks for clearing it up. Shitshow regardless from CM, interested to see what their response to this will be.

Had there been a GB already - they would have been selling a product that in theory they do not have the rights to... Artist says they’ll remove the artwork now, so they’ll have to come up with something else I assume, or pay the artist.

Or just steal again, this time from someone less known.

Here's your chance @r.amghar, sell CM your art you came up with yesterday!
