I love the neon pink and blue colour schemes being used in a lot of the competition entries. Will really make the steelbook stand out if one of these are chosen!

There are a couple of excellent ones both here and on the Empire forum. I just hope they don't stump for too much Gosling in the final design and that they embrace the neon colours and Thai text.

I enjoyed the film but there's a lot of stuff you have to 'get' to enjoy it. I always hate the phrase 'you just didn't get/understand it' but it really is applicable. I've had friends watch it and hate it then explained it to them (well what I took from it) and they then seemed to receive better.

Simply, if you don't get that Chang is God then rest is irrelevant.

ya basically, a lot of my friends had the same kind of experiences. I think once I explained the meaning of the open and closed hands to them they began to understand it a little bit more. It is a complex film that requires a lot from its viewers. I think a lot of people didn't like this one because it wasn't watchable in the way Drive was, it is much slower paced and much more about symbolism and meaning below the surface

If I want to put a lot of thought in then I will read a book, I thought it was awful all artsy and very little else and Gosling seems to be such a monotone actor in every role.

In my opinion of course :)

If anyone's interested, I posted a few designs on the Empire thread under the name 'FoxDhoj' (was my old Gamertag years ago and also happened to be my Empire account name...can't change it now). They're some of the last ones posted, so you'll have to go to page 12.

Huh? You don't like films to be thought-provoking?

I think people enjoy thought provoking films, but if they have to go away and read up on what the film is MEANT to be about then the film itself has not done enough to convey its meaning.

If the film hasn't entertained you while you were watching it, regardless of whether you've missed its intentions, then it has probably failed to do what it set out to. I'm all for clever artsy films but they have to also have a level of clarity, and this film is busy trying to have a deep meaning which in turn prevents it from being an enjoyable experience.

For me anyway. I'm sure if it clicks with you instantly it might be a whole other film. But the number of people this film is clicking with seems to be small.

I think we don´t need the title on the spine. we know wich steel is it when we see the spine ;) - look @ " the man with the iron fists" there is also no title on the spine :)
