As always, amazed that Zavvi getaway with writing false or overstated RRPs.
Zavvi RRP £29.99 but selling for £24.99 saving £5 oooo... but HMV is selling for £19.99? So yeah, HMV decide to sell £10 below RRP???
RRP price is provided by the distributor to retailers they are not false or overstated
Some retailers sell at products at RRP price or even at higher price
Example Zoom price is £31.99
Some but not all retailers have a file discount with distributors the amount of file discount a retailer gets from a distributor this will depend on amount of business they do with that distributor
The retailer that has a higher file discount can afford to sell at lower prices compared to other retailers.
The retailers that don't sell much of a distributor releases will often have a higher price compared to other retailers as they have no file discount or lower file discount
On-line retailers are allowed to list RRP price and list at time a lower selling price on product listings a good few retailers do this in various countries
Price on retailer website can return to RRP price or be selling higher or lower price
HMV don't list RRP prices in the listings with lower selling price same time even though they also are provided with RRP price from the distributor
Amazon and HMV often list RRP price first when listings show up on their website and then drop the price to various lower selling prices
Price drop can show up quickly on amazon and HMV or take longer
Prices can often be listed back to RRP price or higher on Amazon and HMV websites before or after release date
