So first of all, I have applied and I feel I have a fairly good chance at landing a job in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I currently live in the US, and have not been to Scandinavia, so I need some input.

1. Would it be better to live in Sweden and commute to Copenhagen? From what I've read Copenhagen is very expensive to live.

2. How much is cable/Satellite TV, Internet and cell phone packages? I can't find any information on those.

3. Am I allowed to bring my car from the states and just register the car in either sweden or denmark, depending on where we will live?

4. How easy is getting a work visa, or gaining citizenship? I would also need the same for the entire family.

5. I hear it's actually pretty easy to get by, because most of the people speak english. True?

I'm sure I'll have more q's.. so thanks for any input so far.

@adrenaline78 Good luck in your endeavors, but I don't think there are any Target's in Europe...

Nope, there are not!

from where I live a 30 days monthly card is about $258 that´s about the cheapest one, that one also covers most busses in malmö and copenhagen

a trip for examplte for to copenhagen and back is $ 23 when using my prepaid card

to travel to other parts of europe you will need to go with the national lines and those are seperate

wow, I didn't think rail/bus would cost that much. Especially a month type pass. Would love to bring the car, I get 1000km/tank, but yeah, It seems that the import duties are massive in Denmark, but might be doable if moving to Sweden. Might! lol.

@adrenaline78 You bring the beer and pizza and I`ll carry all the boxes you want, buddy! :)
Hopefully we can plan this!

that price is for the rail pass over the bridge, I who just ride between 2 zones pay for 30 day card $ 67, but then I can use it how ever much I want during those 30 days, the montly card over the bridge comes down to $ 9 a day

and petrol ain´t cheap $ 1.9 per liter thats $ 7,19 a gallon

forgot some living here in skåne you can during the summer(from 15 june to 15 aug) buy card which let travel all over skåne for 600sek($81) if I remember correctly you where also alowed to children younger then a a certain age, don´t have any don´t bother with that part

Well, got a turndown notice. Not even an interview. Boo.. Still want to move that way so will keep looking.

too bad. but you could turn this in to win-win situation : skip Sweden and Danmark - and move straight to Finland, the jewl of the north !

+ cheaper than Denmark
+ we use euros like rest of the europe, except sweden, Uk and some others that do not count ;)
+ next to Russia - easy to check it out
+ people are nice and speak English
...etc.
...no cons.

How easy is it to travel around Europe? Looks like you need to pretty much go through Russia to get anywhere.
It's further north. What are average temps?
I've heard Finnish is harder to learn than any of the nordic languages? true?

good info : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finland

it's very easy to travel from here. thru russia. or ferry to sweden or viro and from there on ... or by plane. tickets are cheap these days. also trains thru europe are nice way to travel and you can start from here and buy all tickets from here locally. bus routes are also available ... and of course you own car.

average temp about same as in Norway and Sweden. http://www.studyinfinland.fi/living_in_finland/some_practical_information_on_finland/climate

Finnish is harder but you'll do fine with English and Swedish.

pls do ask more if interested.

Oh @adrenaline78 i would trade places with you in a heart beat dude :) i have all ways wanted to live in the states :woot:
But if you really want to move to europe Finland is not that bad of an place to stay (if you don´t mind the cold :D well these days its more like wet and windy :p only few days of real winter, but to counter that, summers, springs & falls are magnificent here )

Like @nefilim said, there is easy access to rest of the europe from here and fairly cheap too (boat,plane,train,car...... heck you can even walk if you want to :p) so going through Russia not a necessity  and if you don´t live in the heart of the "big" cities, rent is pretty low as well

Anyways, what ever you decide i am sure you will have a blast   ;)

good luck with your search and hopefully you find some place that you absolutely love  otherwise whats the point :naughty: ;)

PS. Finnish language is the easiest to learn ;) rest of the Scandinavia sounds like they have a hot potato in the mouth when they are speaking :p :D ;)

Edit: Here is a little guide to Finland for visitors  :D
