For me, similar story.

First one I got was stay puft because he looked cool. I didn't know about exclusive versions at the time (or I would have bought it instead)

Then I saw few others that looked cute, then I was like I'll just get this one and this one... It's now taking over, they are just too freaking cute.

I buy them because I like them. If I can get an exclusive one I will buy it because they are slightly different to the ones everyone will have.

I don't do it based on value as I rarely sell anything. They are just for me, so just get the ones i personally like.

First ones I got were the Turtles as I couldn't find a decent (or decently priced) statue of them, as I have and prefer bigger statues. Then I got the BBT guys and the BBT/Star Trek crossover.
I take mine out of the box and I'm not aiming for resell value. I like having most of my stuff open, unless it's a super collectible. But I do have to have complete sets.
Couldn't have the Turtles without Shredder or Splinter, couldn't have Kirk without Spock. It's a real burden lol.

I got Beavis so had to get Butthead, got Marty in the Delorean so had to get Doc to sit beside him. Lol

my first started with the walking dead. I thought the zombie with the screwdriver through its eye was awesome and would go well with season 2 zombie blu ray set. The pop! that set me down the road where i became obsessive was lootcrate groot, before him i had maybe 5-6 pops, now after him i have about 70 (in a couple of months) i kept thinking ok my walking dead line needs more friends, than breaking bad, DC, marvel, and disney lol

essentially funko always has something that will appeal to each individual. Disney, marvel, DC, horror, movies, NBC, walking dead, my little pony, rock stars and plenty of other line. Lol

Why are you collecting those? Because you like the way they look or because they increase in value? Other reason?

My first POP! ever was the Alan & Baby Carlos from the Hangover. I was aware of POP!s, but wasn't aware of just how many there were, nor their collectibility. My reason for buying my first 5-6 was to decorate my steelbook shelves in my media room. Like @alvinhwang21 , I got totally sucked in with the Loot Crate Exclusive Groot. I actually picked up my LC Groot per Alvin's info/advice.

Shortly after, out of curiosity, I looked up the Hangover POP!, and it was being listed as "retired" and at prices up to and over $100. I wasn't planning on selling mine, but it gave me that same feeling as the first steelbook I bought that ended up having a lot of value. It's that collector's bug that bites you in the ass and tells you to keep buying something.

I had 5-6 POP!s going into August (which was the month that the LC Groot released), and since, I think I've picked up another 60-70, but I haven't counted them in awhile.

@Marco86 - So you ask why we buy these? Well, like a lot of steelbook collectors, I think it starts out with a liking for something (e.g. Movies) and ends up being a hobby (e.g. Addiction) once the collectibility is discovered.

I'm sure there is a Pop that is worth more then others... But I don't know what it is...
For me. my holy grail is Green Arrow. Would love to find him one day.

of course there are ones more valued than others, I think it is early ones before Pops really took off. They were released anyone on the early bandwagon was able to buy them then they are retired so their values grows.

I love the green arrows and the hangover one.

But for me as I said I am a geek, i like toys I am happy to admit it

Go on eBay and search for "freddy Funko" or "Funko pop proto". Those are the rarest and most expensive.

in terms of value, the grail of all grails are the clockwork orange pieces, i believe only 12 of each were ever made, there are three different ones. Glow in the dark signed, glow in the dark unsigned and the regular version. Near impossible to find and all are valued at above 1k

So I got the SDCC battle damaged Buffy and was able as I said to get the vampire spike.

The time and money that would've went into hunting Vampire Spike would've been too much for me, so I was happy that I stumbled across the 3-pack that I purchased. Congrats on getting him, though! I'll probably grab that battle-damaged Buffy one day, too. Was there a variant for The Gentlemen?

I would have loved the three pack it looks cool with the three in it.

No I don't think there is a variant for the gentlemen, I don't know why, the only other variant I have heard about is a Willow wearing different clothes called 'Wishverse Willow'

I think it's a Hot Topic exclusive so I don't know if we will get that in the UK though

Nice pics & collections everyone! I'm finding these cooler and cooler and want to start collect myself. I should probably stay out of this sub forum though as my gf would litterally kill me if I started collecting these as well.

I imagine the convo would be something like this:

Lol! Oh, I know! We're still not finnished with the steelbook conversation! She just doesn't understand, hehe. I still love her though.
On top of that it's my massive vinyl collection as well. I think she's doing ok, lol!

But serioulsy, that The Dude POP! I assume it's hard to get? I want one badly, hehe.
