Some points: 1. The first half of the film is a horrible jukebox musical without singing, the second half is a decent action mess. 2. According to my theory The Joker is only as good as his laugh is. Leto's sounded like a drying man's last breath. The performance isn't that bad though, they didn't know what to do with The Joker anyway, completely useless to the story. 3. The characters have a minimal background if any and a few second glimpses are not enough to be qualified as backgrounds. Of course charisma packs like Will Smith and Margot Robbie steal the audience effortlessly, but other characters need a lot more than that. Many of them felt like props for a good amount of time. 4. I believe that somewhere beneath this all lies a good movie. I don't know who ended up butchering it, the big bad studio bosses or Batman, but it's a shame there isn't any leading vision in Suicide Squad.

The worst real Bourne film (Legacy was as pleasant as diarrhea on Christmas and doesn't exist), which is anyway quite a decent effort. I'd still rather be watching actually meaningful Paul Greengrass movies like Captain Phillips or the other Damon & Greengrass collaboration Green Zone. I always appreciate that Greengrass is among the few ones who seriously handle the shaky camera technique and make it something more than shaky camera. A half star extra for Tommy Lee Jones who is like a good steak marinated in charisma and wrinkles, I don't remember any Bourne villains but I will remember him when thinking about this film if such an occasion ever comes.
