Reactions from non-collectors (or muggles, as I like to call them)

I was just wondering what kind of response you other ninjas have gotten from non-collectors when they see or hear about your collection?

Most people look at mine and think it's pretty cool, but they show very little interest. Also, there's the common look of disbelief when I tell them the value of my two Sleeping Beauty steelbooks. "But it's just a movie???", "Why do you even bother?", "You could have spent it on so many other things.", and yada yada yada.

Mostly they just can't wrap their heads around it and they probably think I'm pretty crazy. It would be nice to have someone to share this hobby with, but oh well.

So, what kind of response have you gotten?

The most heard reaction I got is something like 'why buying a movie when you won't open/unseal it'.
And why do you want/need multiple copies of one movie?

Some think it's crazy other people like it, but the worst .... my girlfriend thinks it's cute ...

one of my friends goes like "but it's just a blu ray disc! why would you spend $7oo on it?! "
or "why do you need so many copies?"

or "it's not like you can eat it or something."

and the most common one is "what's a steelbook?"

it's funny cos when i spend money on steelbooks, it's not right but it's ok when they or other people spend money on clothes or toys or shoes.

Haha, I almost forgot that one. If I could have a steelbook for the number of times I've been asked that question...

It's only a matter of time before I have to face that problem myself.

The most common is clearly "Eeeeeh... steelbook? what the hell is that?"
The second one is "You know you're just collecting somes boxes actually" in french I heard the word "boiboites"
The third is "So many different copies? for only one movie?totally pointless!"

I get the same "a S...t....e....e....l....B....o....o....k and that is?" then a lack of comprehension of the face of whoever is asking.
Also "but why would you need that when you can buy them on DVD cheaper" even after I've explained the benefits of Blu-ray!
And my favourite "that's a waste, you should just get Netflix, it's the same movie you know".

Most replies I get is the "That's a waste of money!" or "Cool, but are you going to watch any of them?"
