Hello, Vinyl enthusiasts!
This thread is dedicated to Record Store Day releases and everything related to the event. Feel free to share your thoughts, ask questions, and discuss what you're excited to find!

What Is Record Store Day?
For those who are new to the world of vinyl, Record Store Day (RSD) is a huge event in the vinyl community. It happens every April, typically on the third Saturday of the month, and it’s a celebration of vinyl records, independent record stores, and the culture surrounding physical music media.

What Makes Record Store Day Special?
On RSD, record stores across the world receive exclusive, limited-edition vinyl releases that are only available on that day.
These releases can range from reissues of classic albums to new, special editions of recent releases, sometimes with unique artwork, colored vinyl, or bonus tracks.
The exclusivity of these releases makes the event highly anticipated for collectors and music lovers alike.

A lot of the releases are produced in limited quantities, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.
This causes many to stand in line early before stores open, sometimes waiting in line before opening hours to grab the records they’re after.
Many stores also have in-store performances or special events to make the day even more fun.

RSD Exclusives?
RSD Exclusives are often limited edition, meaning they’re available only on Record Store Day (or sometimes in the weeks following, depending on the store).
This can include special colored vinyl, picture discs, live albums, and exclusive tracks that aren’t available elsewhere.
These records often become sought-after collector’s items, especially for music fans who are looking for rare pressings.

Small Run/Regional Titles?
Some Record Store Day releases are small run or regional titles, meaning they're produced in very limited quantities and often sold exclusively in certain regions or specific stores. These titles can be especially sought after by collectors, as they are harder to find outside of the designated areas.

RSD Firsts?
RSD Firsts are releases that are exclusive to Record Store Day, but unlike RSD Exclusives, they will be repressed and released more widely later.
They may have different packaging or extras compared to the general release, but they are not as limited in availability as RSD Exclusives.

What About Black Friday RSD?
In addition to the main event in April, there’s also a Black Friday RSD event.
This takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, and while it’s smaller in scale than the April event, it still features exclusive vinyl releases.
Some people even treat Black Friday RSD as a second chance to find limited editions that didn’t get picked up in April.

What Should You Expect on Record Store Day?
If you plan to participate in RSD, be prepared for crowds and the possibility of long lines, especially at popular stores.
It’s not unusual to have people waiting outside before doors open to get their hands on the most in-demand releases.
Many stores will also limit the number of copies you can buy per title, so everyone has a fair shot at getting their hands on some of the rarer items.

If you’re a newbie, it’s a good idea to check out the list of exclusive releases ahead of time.
The RSD website and many record stores will post their lists in advance, so you can plan what you want to grab when the day arrives.

I went to my usual store on Saturday morning, and they were giving out numbers, which was new. I got #204. After waiting for an hour, they were at #40. I gave up, and ended up getting what I was looking for at close to retail on eBay the next day. I love the idea of RSD, but I don't love the actual experience. I'm looking at the people at the front of the line as they flip slowly through every single album in the RSD display, and I think, "What are you doing? How can you be here and not know exactly what you want? This should take people five minutes to grab what they want and check out."
Unfortunately, RSD draws in flippers who aren't interested in the music, just the resale, that’s why you'll see a flood of overpriced listings the next day.
If you missed out on a release, check Discogs right away, prices are often better than on eBay.
I found everything I wanted there except the Wicked soundtrack.
But you always have to be quick, since store owners usually list leftover stock the day after RSD

Something told me to recheck the stock and I managed to find 3 copies of Demon Days there, think they were moving things around when I was there earlier. If there's anything there tomorrow and you guys don't have any luck with online sales later on with what you're looking for I'd be happy to help out if I can.

How much were they at your local store?
I found copies on Discogs starting from $55, and the European RSD leftover stock is going online tonight at 9 PM so hopefully I can snag it then.
Both Bengans.se and iMusic.co got back to me confirming they'll have the Post Malone Nirvana Tribute and Gorillaz Live at the Apollo in stock.
Unfortunately, no luck with Wicked: The Soundtrack. That one’s sold out everywhere, I’ve emailed every European record store I know and still nothing.

€40 which I was happy with. Yeah I'm going to keep an eye myself tonight just in case there's any tiny chance that a copy or two of Wicked was found or held back for online sales somewhere but I don't really have any hope, but I suppose you never know. Good luck!

Every single site I tried to use last night completely lagged out...HHV, Rough Trade, iMusic, Bengans, North End Haarlem, and more.
Needless to say, the most sought after release never showed up anywhere, just as I suspected.

I checked most of these as well as the few Irish ones that had it listed too. Bizarre to have seen multiple listings on Discogs last night for €280-€320 and they're all gone. Had one watched on eBay that was listed at £1 initially and it went to £170 within the hour with a full day to go. Not sure I've seen anything like it before.

I was watching several on ebay as well, so many auctions and I guarantee you a lot of them are record store owners using their private accounts to flip em.
Sold for £290 so thats $380 give or take
Only 2000 copies, wth were they thinking

@K1SK1S Turns out they can ship, I just read it in the comments.
If someone DMs them with the items they want, they will ship it if needed, I'm going to check their inventory and place an order soon and then hopefully during the RSD Black Friday:thanks:

Only 2 things I want on the list so far, I might need to check the list more to see if I missed something

- Chappel Roan - Subway/Giver 7''inch vinyl limited to 30000 copies, might be hard to get since her popularity blew up
njfkjdsgjgr.jpg

- Avatar: The Last Airbender - Book 1: Water (Music From The Animated Series) limited to 5000, will be easy to get
hfsjf.jpg

Also interesting that Republic Records realized they messed up last RSD by limiting the Wicked Soundtrack to just 2,000 copies. So now, for RSD Black Friday, they’re releasing Wicked Part 2: For Good with 15,000 copies.

Unfortunately for them, it’s on picture discs, and nobody wants picture discs.
I’ll just stick with the Walmart Exclusive Glitter Vinyl

- Fear Factory - Digimortal (REMASTERED, EXPANDED, 25TH ANNIVERSARY)
RSD Limited Run / Regional Focus Release Limited to 1000 copies (2XLP Black & Blue Splatter Vinyl)
Description
: 'Fear Factory’s 2001 release Digimortal went Top 40, but its only vinyl release was in Germany back in 2007.
Another in a string of concept albums that began with Demanufacture and continued with Obsolete, Digimortal was short for Digital Mortality, presciently exploring the theme of man and machine melding into one (spoiler: it doesn’t end well). Musically, the band simplified its sound and added a touch more melody but make no mistake: this is nu metal/death metal at its most intense, with an interesting techno overlay. Maybe “cybercore” would be the best term to describe this album, now coming out on its 25th anniversary for Record Store Day in an expanded edition featuring four bonus tracks never before on vinyl and exclusive to this Record Store Day edition, remastered for the format, pressed on black & blue splatter vinyl, and housed in a gatefold jacket. Limited to 2000 copies worldwide, and reissued with the full support of the band!

This is a 2026 Record Store Day Release.'

Iris DeMent - The Way I Should (30th Anniversary)
RSD Limited Run / Regional Focus Release Limited to 1000 copies (Summer Sky Colored vinyl)
Description:
'With The Way I Should, Iris DeMent stepped boldly into new territory, delivering a collection that balanced her fierce lyrical conviction with tender vulnerability. Released in 1996, this third studio album from the revered Americana singer-songwriter expanded on her folk and country roots, blending sharp political commentary with deeply personal storytelling.
Backed by a fuller, more contemporary sound and featuring collaborations with legends like Delbert McClinton and Mark Knopfler, DeMent doesn’t shy away from weighty topics. From government corruption ("Wasteland of the Free") to working-class struggle ("Quality Time"), she gives voice to the disillusioned with searing honesty and soulful grit. Merle Haggard lends his iconic vocals to “This Kind of Happy,” bringing a warm, lived-in authenticity that deepens the album’s emotional core.
Yet for all its pointed critique, The Way I Should is just as powerful in its quieter moments. Songs like "When My Mornin’ Comes Around" and "Keep Me God" shimmer with grace, hope, and an unwavering moral compass. DeMent’s unmistakable voice anchors every track with a sense of authenticity that’s rare and resonant.
The Way I Should isn’t just an artistic evolution; it’s a fearless statement from a singular voice in American music. Timeless in message and rich in heart, it remains one of DeMent’s most compelling and relevant works.
In celebration of the album’s 30th anniversary, Yep Roc Records is pressing The Way I Should on vinyl for the first time. The album is remastered by Mike Westbrook of Material Mastering and is pressed on Summer Sky color vinyl, limited to 1,000 copies worldwide.

I definitely have my eyes on Paramore and Look Outside Your Window (Slipknot members).
I didn’t even notice Slipknot, I skimmed through the damn thing multiple times.
It’s limited to 2300 copies only, the demand will be crazy. That’s far too few copies.

On top of that, it’s an RSD exclusive release. Same with Paramore, so it won’t get reissued.
There is a chance they might reissue it though if the demand is high enough.
They do that sometimes for popular releases even though it’s listed as an RSD exclusive

Was hoping to bypass this year but AWKIF holds such a special place for me with Paramore and I'll be tempted by the Haim and Wolf Alice releases too.
I am waiting for Paramore's Singles Club (EP) vinyl, I rarely collect 7 inch records, I hate the format
Only time they released The Singles Club EP was on 7 inch set, so I skipped it
Hoping they will release it on a 12 inch record, 1 side with all the tracks and Side B should be etched
