Hello, Vinyl enthusiasts!
This thread is dedicated to Record Store Day releases and everything related to the event. Feel free to share your thoughts, ask questions, and discuss what you're excited to find!

What Is Record Store Day?
For those who are new to the world of vinyl, Record Store Day (RSD) is a huge event in the vinyl community. It happens every April, typically on the third Saturday of the month, and it’s a celebration of vinyl records, independent record stores, and the culture surrounding physical music media.

What Makes Record Store Day Special?
On RSD, record stores across the world receive exclusive, limited-edition vinyl releases that are only available on that day.
These releases can range from reissues of classic albums to new, special editions of recent releases, sometimes with unique artwork, colored vinyl, or bonus tracks.
The exclusivity of these releases makes the event highly anticipated for collectors and music lovers alike.

A lot of the releases are produced in limited quantities, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.
This causes many to stand in line early before stores open, sometimes waiting in line before opening hours to grab the records they’re after.
Many stores also have in-store performances or special events to make the day even more fun.

RSD Exclusives?
RSD Exclusives are often limited edition, meaning they’re available only on Record Store Day (or sometimes in the weeks following, depending on the store).
This can include special colored vinyl, picture discs, live albums, and exclusive tracks that aren’t available elsewhere.
These records often become sought-after collector’s items, especially for music fans who are looking for rare pressings.

Small Run/Regional Titles?
Some Record Store Day releases are small run or regional titles, meaning they're produced in very limited quantities and often sold exclusively in certain regions or specific stores. These titles can be especially sought after by collectors, as they are harder to find outside of the designated areas.

RSD Firsts?
RSD Firsts are releases that are exclusive to Record Store Day, but unlike RSD Exclusives, they will be repressed and released more widely later.
They may have different packaging or extras compared to the general release, but they are not as limited in availability as RSD Exclusives.

What About Black Friday RSD?
In addition to the main event in April, there’s also a Black Friday RSD event.
This takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, and while it’s smaller in scale than the April event, it still features exclusive vinyl releases.
Some people even treat Black Friday RSD as a second chance to find limited editions that didn’t get picked up in April.

What Should You Expect on Record Store Day?
If you plan to participate in RSD, be prepared for crowds and the possibility of long lines, especially at popular stores.
It’s not unusual to have people waiting outside before doors open to get their hands on the most in-demand releases.
Many stores will also limit the number of copies you can buy per title, so everyone has a fair shot at getting their hands on some of the rarer items.

If you’re a newbie, it’s a good idea to check out the list of exclusive releases ahead of time.
The RSD website and many record stores will post their lists in advance, so you can plan what you want to grab when the day arrives.

One of my favorite Albums of all time!!!
I was lucky enough to be able to snag a copy of this a couple years ago from their website. Pumped they're reissuing it so more people can get their hands on it.

Is the only difference the color vinyl? ...Do I need another copy!? haha

I would grab it, they only do reissues each decade, plus this is the first RSD release of their debut album

How did everyone do today? Get what you wanted?
Went to local record store with my 11 year old daughter who is heavily into vinyl (you just gotta love it :) ). We met our Dutch pride 'Di-Rect', they're Netherlands greatest band. They released they're latest single on pure white vinyl and we got it signed by whole band.

Nothing for me this year. Nothing really stuck out. Was possibly interested in cure greatest hits, blur live, John frusciante, xzibit - restless and Nas - Gods son

But I’m not paying £55 each for cure and frusciante and £40+ for the rest. Crazy prices. If the Blur Live in Japan is the full hour and half then that’s probably priced the best. Might get that one

Also see the top 10 selling RSD 2026 artists and it just an embarrassing list bar 1 or 2 of them. Fukin Gen Z lol

I'll probably regret asking after seeing it... but how do you look at that please mate?
The stores were posting it through their socials. Think I see it through banquet. They were all making a huge thing with these big bands before the weekend like every year and those kinds of artists and the top sellers became Taylor Swift, Olivia Dean, Charlie XCX, wicked 2 soundtrack and all that sh!te. It’s really depressing. I think the only actual musicians/ bands were Muse (they haven’t been any good in 15 years) and paramore which, Well I wont go
Into that but it’s better than the top 5 I suppose lol.

Well I’ve found some more reasonably priced Blur and Cure vinyls that go live tonight at 8 online so wish me luck lol. Got a few sites ready. I think blur will be easier to get than the cure but we’ll see

Not sure how it is over there but I've seen a lot of stock of The Cure here, can't say I saw lots of Blur. I always find the regional differences interesting, saw people in NA saying the Bowie records were difficult to find yet I've seen them in every store I got into. Managed to get Paramore's from Discogs at a very small markup so I'm happy. Local store had Bill Evans At The BBC and Buddy Guy which I'm a little tempted by so I'm going to think on them.

My Blur guess is because Damon usually gets enough made for his RSD releases in the past and with Gorillaz too so hopefully my gauge isn’t fully off lol

We’ll see later. If I can get the both for £82 including shipping from this one retailer I’ve got my eye on then great. There’s others but prices wildly change and so does shipping too. For both that’s the best price I’ve found. Shaved nearly £15 off cure which I’ve seen it’s pricing vary quite a lot.
Nice one, congrats. Fingers crossed for later

The site I was eying up didn’t have Blur and for some reason Banquet had 20+ of each and still do! Went with them. I’m happy tho, cost £4 more than it would’ve from the other shop. Sweet

Ended up picking up Bill Evans At The BBC. Pricey one but been interested in him since knowing about Anders Danielson Lie doing a movie about him and I love a bit of jazz.

Highly doubt it's likely (especially as I think it was only released in NA and was pretty limited) but if anyone has and is ever considering the Challengers Mixed vinyl from RSD 2024, please let me know! Been on the lookout for it for a few years.
