Well that's a disappointing design. But to be fair, it would be hard to come up with a unique design for this that hasn't already been done previously.

Hmmm...Im still not completely sold on this, on the one hand I applaud Zavvi for doing a steelbook using different artwork to what weve seen on previous releases but at the same time that artwork isnt all that great. The image may have been used in the US on posters but never to my knowledge in the UK so its not instantly recognisable as a scene/poster image from the film to a lot of folks here, and the different typeface used for the title/logo on the UK posters is very distinctive

Its not the same old artwork reused or the gas can art slapped onto a steelbook but surely there were other, better images in the offering? some of the stylised characters from the dvd release would have looked very nice on a white steelbook with the familiar UK title used alongside nicely embossed would have looked great

This is still firmly in the 'could have been much better' category for me...not cancelled yet but very much in the 'to decide weather to cancel closer to release' section of my preorders

On a side note, many steelbooks have *artwork subject to change alongside them when announced, but apart from studio enforced changes to the artwork (Lawless springs to mind) have any steels ever been changed/tweaked/redesigned once announced based on customer feedback? as going by a lot of comments on this thread, if Zavvi do read the forums, they could well be in a panic thinking they are gonna be stuck with loads of these....I know the inside of Withnail was modified based on our feedback but has a steelbook ever gone 'back to the drawing board' due to a negative response?

I agree with that bob, this art wasn't recognisable to me either and I love Reservoir Dogs. However it's already growing on me and ironically given that this is so different to the German one, I'm now likely to keep them both.

The negative response on Sixth Sense was pretty dramatic, if they don't change that artwork they may struggle to shift any at all.

This front artwork was originally used on a Laserdisc release a good few years ago! :)

I agree that it is nice that the artwork hasn't been used on a steelbook before i have just been left a little underwhelmed by it. I would have liked something really radical like the coffee shop scene as a wrap round or something, anything that we haven't seen before.

Yes! I'm going to pretend that they just listened to me when I was talking about how much I wanted the US poster, since everyone else was saying they should change it. Way better than the previous silhouette on orange that has been used so many times.

I don't dislike it. It's just not WOW enough for me to double dip on it. I've cancelled my order and sticking with the German one. (Even if i do love the back of this)

It's a shame they just seem to have taken the poster for the film and put it on the front.

I do like the inside, it works very well, I think, since it goes across both parts of the steelbook effectively. But, as people have mentioned, the back is almost identical, which is the same as what happened to the Kill Bill steelbook. :(

It's a shame that this wasn't as good as it could have been, I'd love to have it to further near a complete Tarantino steelbook collection, but guess I'll stick to the petrol can version for now.

Really amazed by all the hate. Everyone talks about having the poster art instead of some new photoshop job, and now that it's done, people want some new photoshop job and not the poster. I really dislike the German steel, talk about boring and lazy.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont :)

I think the main problem is that artwork is far more recognised in the states, if this was a US release you could say fair enough, its the poster your familiar with, but the UK poster and title font/blood splatter logo are iconic images of UK poster artwork, and the 2 US posters Im familiar with just dont do it for me....but then Im sure there are lots of folks in the States who feel the same way about the UK poster...

That's me alright, grew up with the US poster so I love it, don't care for the UK one.

yeah will probbly pass on this one, the front art, even though ive read it was a poster, just looks like someone had 10 mins to put together a cover and cut and paste that image of the guys walking along ontop just to fill in that space
