When it was first announced I wasn't as excited as I was at the prospect of episode VII, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. It's the Star Wars we know and love but from a slightly different angle, it's the rebels from the viewpoint of the rebels but not through the Skywalker story. Enough to keep it familiar with a few nods to a new hope and a few familiar faces without it feeling forced (no pun intended) it's strange to see a Star Wars film that is a self contained story, as we are used to them setting up the next episode or ending on a cliff hanger, but as we know the ending, it's all about the mission itself and I think it was done really well. I saw it in IMAX 3D, and as with most films I don't think the 3D added anything at all but the IMAX experience is too good to pass, I'll definitely go again before the weekend is done, but in 2D...

Saw it and loved it, as much TFA. I read Kevin Smith said it was as good as Empire Strikes Back which I thought "no, how could it?" But empire is still tops for me, loved this film I do wonder how smaller children will feel about this, not spoiling it for anyone but my advice for anyone seeing this have Episode IV ready to watch when you get home.

Looking forward to getting the Steelbook

So after I saw this film, I thought that it waaaaaaaas...

... yeah, it was fine. I'll probably wait until this one drops to $10 USD before I pick it up, though.
I find it strange that someone who named his account after a Star Wars Force Awakens character and has a Star Wars photo only found this film 'fine' and wouldn't want to preorder a copy when it's released??!!

Considering I spent about €45 on 2 versions of TFA to have the complete package (including the 3D and a steelbook), this is pretty good value for money and I can see it selling out once more people get to see it in the cinema.

Really looking forward to this steelbook. I don't go to the movie theater that often so decided to go see my first IMAX movie in a few hours and this is the movie I'm going to see so hopefully it lives up to all the hype I've been reading about on the forum here this morning. :D

well just got back and have to say without giving anything away liked the darker tone tbh but also is odd humorous comments from one character.
the 3d was done well and added to it imho. as stand alone it does it well in its own right for me as a star wars fan i loved it, my wife who was dragged alone kicking all the way said she prefered tfa tbh so we agreed to differ :hilarious:

anyway this will sell out fast once people have been to see it over the christmas period when there all off from work.

my advice to all those on the fence about this pre-order now and go see and then decide whether to keep it or not.
otherwise you hang on too long it will be to late and this will sell out without doubt imho

as to the comment i'll wait till it drops to x price will not happen.

make of it what you will

Saw this the other night and found it to be a totally mixed bag. Decent action sequences and a unique plot with clever ties to the OT mean nothing if I don't care about the characters on screen. The poorly written exposition heavy dialogue, and zero characterisation ruined what was otherwise a more unique entry than TFA.

Vader's earliest appearance was embarrassing, evoking prequel levels of cringe, but his later scene was excellent despite something seeming 'off' about his gestures/appearance. The over-reliance on one particular digital actor was misjudged... the technology isn't good enough and every time they appeared on screen I was ripped right out of the movie.

I know I seem to be in the minority with this opinion, I really wanted to like the movie, but ultimately it just didn't connect with me.

Went to see this yesterday and loved it.

Will probably pre-order this and decide whether to cancel at a later date depending on whether the artwork remains the same (I like the current art). Would prefer a nice gloss finish rather than any embossing or debossing though.

You have to remember...this is the guy who thought Doctor Strange was the same as every other Marvel movie made. Maybe he thinks Rogue One is like every other Star Wars/Marvel/Disney movie ever made?? The Disney hate must be spreading through him!

I'm going to hold off on pre-ordering this from Zavvi. Hopefully it will show up as a 2D/3D steelbook in the US. I'll definitely buy it then!

I assume he liked TFA more than this. I know that a lot of IMDb users liked TFA more than RO and vise versa.
