It is highly amusing how quickly the UK steel became "vibrant and simplistic" when the dull design was slated when it was first announced. I think people look open things more favourably when they become harder to obtain and worth a bit of money. The back of the UK steel is still a terribly blended image but people seem to forgot that now it's rare.

Either way this one looks nice enough, and certainly has had more thought put into it (I don't consider an ALL RED steel to have had any thought really). But people are free to get both or neither, depending on preference.

The beauty of this release is that the package, as a whole, will be far superior to the rather bare bones UK version. Plus it will probably work out cheaper than trying to pick up a copy of Rush UK via the scalpers on ebay.

agree-strange how people bitched about the artwork on the UK steel up until it went out of print:D

I don't think it's amusing. If you had paid eBay prices for this and now prefer the look of this version, you would be feeling pretty crappy right now. No-one likes to feel that they have wasted their money. Personally I own the UK version which I got for a very good price. I think this doesn't live up to the hype, so I'll be sticking with what I have.

Looks great! I already own the UK one so I will be sticking with it but this is a great option for those who missed out, a much better option than the Italian steel.

In my opinion this would have been the perfect inside art for the UK version

let's wait until we see more than just a mockup of the naked steelbook. i'm pretty sure there will be more that will make the whole package an absolute winner.

Love the artwork! ;)

Once the full package is put together with the care and quality we have seen from Plain Archive & Kimchi. I'm sure it will be amazing!
Hopefully they add a full gloss or spot gloss finish to the steel....

I can't wait to see the whole package and will be buying this WEA from Plain & kimchi.......

Also I think it perfectly suits the mood of the Film. :p

i also remember many people complaining about the choice kimchi made with the spot glossed letters in the background of the leon steel, and the 1/4 slip. now everybody loves it.
i'm sure when it goes live a lot of people now moaning can't resist ordering then. :p

While I loved the vibrant red of the UK release, this Plain Archive design is still very attractive. Plus, don't forget that the SteelBook is just the cake. The icing on top will be the slipcover or box, postcards, sticker, etc. Can't wait to see the full package! :scat:

+1 :oohyeah: :scat:  :p

i think it would be nice if the interior was a close-up of hunt's and lauda's on each side. kind of keeping in the spirit of the 1v1 going.

problem is ppl *want* *their* uk steelbook to be the best, so they would always search for arguments as to why this is inferior.. and since the uk follows a different approach artwise, it is quite easy to say that "the minimalistic style suits the movie a lot better" or "vibrant colors, while this looks dull"

theyre not giving this steelbook the slightest chance and judge it on a mere mock-up..

all in all their "opinion" is easily dismissed as massively biased and should therefore be considered useless for finding ones personal favorite

Or it could be in fact, they missed the original UK steelbook (or even worse, decided they wanted it because it got valuable), and aren't willing to spend £50 for it, so they'll settle for this one. This one is just going to go around in circles, and is all speculative anyway.

Bottom line, if you like it, buy it. I don't, and didn't need to "search for arguments as to why this is inferior", it was a very easy decision for me. Now go and enjoy your dirty brown steelbook! :p
