I used to open all of mine. Then I stopped opening any. I have started opening a few now. I'm tired of never seeing the inside art. When I do, if you are careful, that cardboard insert will usually fit inside the plastic protection sleeve. I usually put the insert in first, then carefully slide in the steel so as not to scratch it.

I open my steelbooks if they have the cardboard with the rubber cement holding it in place. Over time what would that stuff do to the steelbooks?
