Dear Customers,

Thank you for your patience whilst we’ve developed our 4K restoration plans for David Fincher’s Seven. We’re pleased to announce that the restoration will finally be released in early 2025, with a brand-new 4K scan carefully overseen by Fincher.

We will be releasing two products: a Digipak and a Steelbook release, both developed and designed by the director himself. These products will replace the previously announced What’s in the Box and Ultimate Collector’s Edition versions.

Pre-order for the new products will go live in early November. Apologies again for the delay, and thank you for understanding. We can’t wait for you to experience Seven in more detail and depth than ever before."

Apologies for any inconvenience this cancellation might cause, and we genuinely appreciate your understanding.

Thanks again for your support, we’re excited to share this new release with you soon!

That'll be interesting to see! As far as past examples go, it's never quite turned out too well when directors have been involved with the design process.

Yeah I’m not too pleased with this tbh. I think it will look a mess but I hope to be wrong

Can't be any worse then that sh*t looking steelbook they were going to go with. Always thought it looked weak. The slip and box were cool but that steel was an ugger. Never liked the poster going back years.

I'm looking forward to Seven in UHD. The HDR I'm expecting to glorious. Darius Khondji's cinematography is spectacular.

The one thing that bodes well about the delay- It means they are working hard trying to retain/replicate the Silver retention aspects of the original print. Fincher & Khonji's process for the look of this film was unlike any other.

“We’re doing Se7en right now. And we’re going back and doing it in 4K from the original negative — and we overscan it, oversample it, doing all of the due diligence, and there’s a lot of **** that needs to be fixed,” Fincher said. “Because there’s a lot of stuff that we now can add because of high dynamic range. You know, streaming media is a very different thing than 35mm motion picture negative in terms of what it can actually retain. So there are, you know, a lot of blown-out windows that we have to kind of go back and ghost in a little bit of cityscape out there.”

He indicated the issues largely aren’t noticeable but “on a 100-inch screen, you’ll look at it and go, ‘What the ****? They only had money for white cardboard out there?’ So that’s the kind of stuff on print stock, it just gets blown out of being there. And now you’re looking at it, going ‘I can see, you know, 500 nits of what the ****.'”
But he clarified, he’s “fundamentally against the idea of changing what [the film] is.”
“You can fix, you know, 3 percent, 5 percent. If something’s egregious, it needs to be addressed,” he said. “But, you know, I’m not gonna take all the guns out of people’s hands and replace them with flashlights.”

Don't worry, they're going to make it so dark, you can't see crap inside apartments, and 'color correct' it orange, or green...

That's scary bad.

That's better, but translated from libtalk means they will change stuff.

We shall see. We all hope Fincher does not follow down the dark path Cameron has gone.

Right, there's no catching up to Cameron, he's not only dead, he's now risen as the ultimate evil, as he now supports AI generated content, wants to pioneer and use it.

That's all been said earlier in the thread, not country specific, but that there'll be those two editions instead.
