Cancelled my preorder, as its a film I've never seen and is probably not much more than nostalgic for most?

Nothing could be further from the truth. It's one of the more important films in cinematic history, with its director being a huge influence on many great and widely known filmmakers. It's not for everybody (no movie is) but as mentioned above it's worth a viewing for any film buff.

It's a fantastic film that started my movie buff mode 30 years ago. Recently saw the criterion edition and it hasn't lost any if it's power.

I personally like the simplicity of the artwork on this, debating between this and the criterion release. Can anyone confirm if the criterion one is region A locked?

Yep, as TinybutDeadly said, all Criterions are region locked. I already own the Criterion release, so I'm gonna pass on this but I like the look of it for sure. So many releases that I'm glad I get a break now and then, lets my wallet relax for a bit :D

How is the pq/aq for this disc? Want the steel but due to the movie being one of the best all time, the pq/aq must be on par with the criterion version.

I'm reading through previous posts and its sounding like the disc hasn't been released before?

The more I see this, the more I like Criterion digipak... Make an effort, just a little one, damn it!
For the designer...:alien:

This is the kind of release that I would love arrow to do ie jam packed with special features, seeing as such it's an important work. Is it safe to say there won't be any?

BFI (British film institute) releases are excellent. There are normally documentaries and insightful commentary tracks.

I have the 1999 bfi DVD release, but that was their 2nd ever release. Now they are more like criterion or MoC quality.

I have high hopes for this release, but watching 4:3 media on my dedicated 21:9 screen is poop :(

Still a must buy for one of thr greatest films ever made.
