I'm not a massive fan of the art work on this, but i like the idea of it being comic book art as that's different to what i currently have a suits the style of the film really well in my opinion.
something like this might have looked better though

and for all those that insist it should be a picture of Jessica Alba and nothing else will do... there's plenty of pics on the internet boys

variation on the b/w comic approved artwork
finish with matte blacks & glossy whites + red glossy title (& rear infos) on a transparent slipcover
Love it! That transparent cover with the red title is the work of a genius

Hmm, not sure I agree with you on this. I'd be more than happy with the artwork if it was done well (as with the digipak I posted earlier in this thread) but this is fairly poorly executed.

Also, people are buying this film for the film, not because it is based on a comic book. Imagine they released a comic with film art splashed all over it, the uproar from fans of the comic would be insane

I don't mind the artwork and it seems to me that most people who have an issue with it prefer art that already exists on one of a number of other steelbooks. So the simple answer for them would be - to go and buy one of those OTHER steelbooks.

As for the second part there have been a TON of comics and books that have been reissued when a film has come out with film art on them. Happens all the time and I don't see an issue with it. The fact is that this one is less problematic than most, as the Sin City film made a LOT of effort to mirror the presentation and layout of the comics. Some of the film is literally shot for shot what happened in the comics (like when Rourke goes through his list of gear, ending with his "mitts").

So to say people want to disassociate the comic from the film would be impossible in this case. As the makers clearly didn't tinker too much with the source material at all.

Still I know people like what they like and the beauty of this release is that people don't have to take it or leave it - thanks to the countless other versions. Something out there for everyone.

Think this is a real let down and would personally rather invest in the Korea digiback with the theatrical and extended editions.

Good to see that some collectors are still up for this :) enjoy your 4th print, £19, matte, 1-disc, non embossed steelbook guys

Thanks, will do! :movie:

usually i don't mind picking up multiple releases of movies in different steelbooks. i already own the dutch metalpak, the canadian edition and the german edition but i doubt if i'll be picking this edition up, no matter how much i love the movie.
some will like it, others won't, it's as simple as that. we're all entitled to an opinion, and we should be able to express ourselves without the potential to be verbally attacked or insulted by other members in their posts. some posts in this thread are to be honest, disappointing and overly aggressive, to say the least.
is that really what this forum is about? i think not............

My 2c

It's not that bad actually. Prob could of done a bit better (the original comic artwork is amazing and there are plenty more images to use) but the overall vibe is good. Premuim finish could possibly improve it?

Would I buy it? No.

Very happy with my extras laden 2 disc regular edition (and if they don't include disc two with the extended separate stories and bundles of features it will be a major fail)

i cld be wrong but i think he might of been banned b4 for personal attacks - but if he dont like some members here why not jus put them on your ignore list? :dunno:

Yep, wrong :) Dont do personal attacks when talking about metal cases for films

Just dont get why the need is there to comment and belittle people who may want to buy it and like it when you have no interest yourself? Maybe everyone already has you on the ignore list so they dont see it.....

I like the fact that they have done something different to what is already out there.

Personally I'm not a fan of this (back looks good though) but I'm interested in what it's going to look like in hand.
