So, this no longer says 'ultra limited' nor '2000 copies' anywhere. It did before though, right?

I reckon they've moved the goal posts.

Again.

Good old zavvi :p

I know the source material does, but none of the artwork really relates to the movie though. It would be like putting Judge Dredd comic art on the Judge Dredd Steelbook. Just doesn't do it for me personally.

Also, is it just me, or does the character on the back look like Tyrion from Game Of Thrones??!!

In my eyes, there's a closer relationship between the Sin City film and the Sin City graphic novels than with most (all?) other comic book based films. The problem with the analogy you made, to me anyway, is the fact that Sin City is stylized in a way that closely resembles the comic book artwork, whereas Judge Dredd (and other comic book based films) are not.

I missed out on this the day it went live because of a niece's bday party, so I'm thrilled to be able to grab a copy now.

Seems to be some confusion everywhere whether or not this is still limited to 2,000, or have Zavvi / Lionsgate decided to change this due to popularity? Would definitely have a few things to say if it is no longer limited, as consumers have pre-ordered on the assumption that it would be

I also don't trust Zavvi as a retailer anymore when they keep selling out and then mysteriously reappearing every so often. It gives the term "sold out" absolutely zero value to us. Also, who's to say that they're being truthful when they send out their last warning "very limited stock left" eMail? They could have 1,500 left or just 100, who's to know?

It appears its no longer an ultra limited 2000 print. Their listing has completely changed. I am really not surprised.

I'm really not impressed with Zavvi's recent sly changes of their listings. I know there is no confirmation that the print run has been increased, but dropping the 'ultra limited run' from the description speaks volumes.

At best it shows complete lack of understanding of their target market by misjudging demand for titles. At worst it could be seen almost as bad as scalping, as I doubt that they would inform anyone they have increased a print run, or that they would adjust the price accordingly.

I agree to you to an extent that the change of run does alter how people view a steelbook, and I definitely agree they have a lack of understanding for their target market at times. On the other hand, I believe it helps eradicate the problem of scalping.

I see a lot of people complaining about scalping, and then they complain when runs are increased, thats contradictory. When runs are increased, there is a larger supply to meet the demand, thus less people miss out than on an ultra limited run and prices will be cheaper on ebay etc.

I don't really care if a steelbook is ultra limited or more general, I buy it if I like it and if I can afford it. If people are upset a steel is not as limited anymore, they can cancel, but I think its cool they let more people have the steelbook they want without having to pay extortionate prices :scat:

A little sneaky but I could really care less, never plan on getting rid of mine so I don't care if its worth a couple bucks less.

I totally agree that it's great that more people will now have the chance to have this in their collection.

My main gripe is that I've only stomached their catalogue price increase due to the fact the run was lower. If this was originally set at 4k in all likelihood it would also be priced at £14.99.

I know that with a lot of members, an important part of the steelbook game is the print run.

The print run isnt that important to me. Yes its nice to have a steelbook with a low print run, but the main factors for me are finish, price, and do i like the film (sometimes i might go in blind).

If zavvi have increased the run then fair play to them. They are running a business afterall.

This is just my opinion though. Each to their own and all that jazz.

The listing was changed on April 30th, when it was confirmed that the Steelbook would include both cuts of the film. This leads me to personally believe that the person responsible for updating the listing didn't know what they were doing or didn't realise the importance of the text they removed.

The Steelbook brand relies on the perceived collectibility and scarcity of the product. Would Scanavo allow a retailer to jeopardise this by false advertising their products?

I just wish Zavvi would announce the release date to this and the others as that will determine whether to keep my order(s) or not. Last time with the Hunger Games I didn't even realise the date was forwarded until a HDN member pointed out (bless you!) and promptly cancelled my order when I found out.
