Former HMV exclusive:
***Several members have stated that per HMV, pre-orders have been cancelled.

Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:
1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund
2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

I'm very surprised this is OOS, I thought there would have been a big print run on this.

I think that eBay link helps explain at least part of the reason it has gone OOS so soon. Ebay price scalping/the largescale hoarding of steelbook stock has become pretty big business in the UK, and when Amazon don't place order quantity restrictions it just makes it open season for those resellers to make a killing. It also artificially inflates the rarity/value of any given steelbook (which then drops again as a surfeit of eBay stock appears).

I hope in future that if Amazon go ahead with other exclusives that they place quantity restrictions (as Amazon Japan regularly do) so that more collectors might have the opportunity to acquire these limited edition steels at retail prices rather than having to turn to the profiteers.

Time to look at other editions of Skyfall then. I'm now seriously considering the French version. Yeah yeah, I know that I said earlier that I wouldn't need the art postcards, but with the UK version going OOS, this has changed my mind.

That's madness! I can't believe that a huge print run like SK is all gone before the release day. I think it will be back in stock again.

Today, it say - Skyfall - Limited Edition Steelbook (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) (Exclusive to Amazon.co.uk)[Region Free]
Before this, description say REGION B. After OOS...it's REGION FREE...

Those scalpers have probably learnt a lot from boards like this. The might even be members.

But as you say, if retailers are going to go for exclusives they will only cater to the worst elements unless they learn to limit their offers.
