Hope I have this in the right place. I'd like to get some hard cases for my more valuable steels. They seem hard to get. A seller on Ebay Germany is selling them, but won't ship to Canada. but was unable to get any. Can anyone help?:(

So Matt at Steelbook Central reached out to me and asked if I would have a look at his new SC2 line. Of course I said I would and today they arrived! I've done a short video that illustrates the main differences:

SC6 Jumbo Protective Case from Steelbook Central

The kind folks at Steelbook Central have recently sent me a sample of their new SC6 Jumbo Steelbook Protective Case. Here are my thoughts on it (and a few pictures too).

Firstly it's a 3/4 enclosed, side loading case, similar to their SC2 & SC3 cases for standard size steelbooks. The quality of the SC6 case is very good and will definitely protect your jumbo steelbooks from scratches and shelf wear. I think that it should fit most jumbo steelbooks, with or without j-cards.

My only negative point is that when I tried this on a sealed copy of The Hobbit, it was a very tight fit and getting it back out was not very easy at all. Also it didn't seem to cover all of the steelbook (right to the very edge - see pics below), but this could be due to the extra thickness of the seal on the steelbook.

Personally, I prefer their SCF1 style cases (which I now have all my regular steelbooks in and absolutely love!) and would rather have a fully enclosed case for my jumbo steelbooks (hopefully this may come in the future!).

Hope this post is of some use to people. :)

Looks like I won't be using steelbook central again if they are going to have thumb holes on the front of the SC2. I display many of mine front facing and that leaves a gap to the elements, and doesn't look great either. Time to find another company!

Thanks for the video dude.

From what I've been told these aren't the NEW new ones, just the latest batch which have had a couple of changes implemented. There is a totally new batch coming soon that Matt is very interested in hearing our feedback on. I've tried to get him to register here, he could well have already, so we can feedback directly to him.

Beat ya to it, not that it was a race or anything :p

I think the SC6 were intended to fit both sealed and unsealed, otherwise Matt would have to make 2 different sleeves for what is already a small market. Jumbos aren't that common.

Thanks for the info mate, yeah he should definitely sign up :)

Their SC2 were perfect and their biggest seller, why mess with perfection. Front thumb loop is just a killer for me :(

Anything that would fit most Kimchi steels with lenti slips, like Tangled, Leon and Le Grand Bleu?

Well ordered a new batch of SC2's and they have front thumb holes, seriously peeved off. I need full protection on the front.

Very glad I ordered only 10 as I was gonna get 50. These are utterly useless!

Can anyone recommend a substitute for open steels that fit as snuggly with no front thumb holes?

Have you tried the man of steel ones?

i thought they were thinner and not as well made as SC but if you dont like their design anymore :(
