Hope I have this in the right place. I'd like to get some hard cases for my more valuable steels. They seem hard to get. A seller on Ebay Germany is selling them, but won't ship to Canada. but was unable to get any. Can anyone help?

The ones I have the glue is on the bottom. I really didn't want to get into this back and forth. That is my preference yours is different totally cool.

Why would they do both? By placing it on the back where it originally was means it suits those customers loading it correctly "imo" spine first, and those who want to be awkward and use them by placing the opening first.

It wouldn't be cost effective for Matt to get 2 different batches made, as most customers were already happy with old style. Changing it to the new style doesn't please all those same customers hence he looses some. Simple business process, if a change doesn't work for everyone, go back to the one that does. Simples

But looking at images of collections on here the vast majority DO place spine first! Even the promo images Matt uses are spine first.

Sorry dude but your in a very small minority, because I don't even think I have seen one person post images where the spine is to the opening on any forum with a steelbook section lol.

In my pictures I place the steelbook in spine first because it looks better for the photo. I personally leave the spine open as i like to see the title clearly on my shelves. But what I do is not important if I am in the minority lol

I think I confuse enough people with all our slipcovers as it is lol. I have to make one type for the SC2 and thats it otherwise i would not get the price so cheap. The slipcover is originally made so you leave the spine open but people use them how it suits them best, as the spine is quite an important part of the steelbook.

If the glue line is on the back it means you can put the steel in either way. If the glue line is on the top, then for the majority of people who load spine first it's on full show. It was better where it originally was as that suits both ways of loading.

If the glue line was on the back would it stop people from buying them? as you dont look at the back of the steelbook anyway.

They were meant to be in last friday but our supplier let us down, so will be 2 weeks or so

If you look on ebay there is a seller selling a rip off of our SC2 really cheap and there selling loads. They are using PVC which has a blue tinge to the slipcover, trouble with PVC is that them sleeves will react with the steelbook over time. Its very easy to sell something really cheap and selling slipcovers with PVC would save me £80 per 1000 but you have to make sure your selling a quality product or whats the point right? No other seller that i know sells PVC, we all sell APET which does not give off harmful toxins. So does it matter about the glue line if i sell them cheap, everyone will buy them lol

Matt, I think yours are a quality product I have tried many others. The SCF1 feels the thickest and most robust of the ones I have tried.

I haven't used them for a giant amount of time, so will yours never cause any kind of damage or erosion over like years?

No they wont cause any erosion at all, APET Material (Amorphous Polyethylene Terephthalate) is an environmentally friendly alternative to PVC. I have worked for plastic manufacturers for years and none of them will recommend PVC because of the gases and toxins that go into making it, It is well known for causing a chemical reaction with steel. APET is the material they use for drinks bottles. All other slipcover suppliers including blu-steels, kimchi and movie-style all use APET.

The current SC2's are 240 Micron in thickness, the SCF1's are 290 Micron so quite a bit thicker. The new SC2's will be 270 Micron and the SCF1's will be 300 Micron

Yeah there the old design, the new design wont change much they will be slightly thicker, same size and much cheaper in price. We did think about having them made bigger but we have not had enough feedback.

I will say that on the transparency side the new 2 thumbed ones are flawlessly clear, where often some of the older ones had the odd mark here and there. These new ones be very shiny

Well, I did my best to give my business to Kai in Germany for SteelShells. I picked up a couple hundred months back, but had to go directly through him as his website, for some reason, would not accept orders from Japan.
They came, and they were excellent.
We have exchanged a few emails, but I haven't heard back from him for nearly 2 months even after getting a quote from him for a couple of hundred more and sending some follow-up emails as well, so I fear I will have to move to a new company.
Quite disappointing!!!

Can anyone tell me what slipcovers from other companies are most similar to the standard S065 that he sells? I don't want them to be too mismatched.

It's up to you the new ones will be a few months or so, the new SCF1's we were looking to sell for £5.50 per 10 inc delivery on our website, I think we charge about £8.99 per 10 at the moment.

Hello, Kai sells the steelshell which is a patented product, we sell similar slipcovers at Steelbook Central depending on what your looking for. How do you like to store your steelbooks, with or without j card?
