The New Jersey Legislature will legalize the use of medical marijuana today. It is the 14th state in the U.S. to pass the legislation and yesterday, the measure passed by the General Assembly and State Senate.
ONE STEP CLOSER!!!! Even closer yet,The California Assembly's Public Safety Committee (whatever the hell that is) voted 4-3 to legalize NON-medical use for people over 21.
haha. I don't smoke weed, but I don't see what the issue is considering alcohol is legal in all 50 states. That and cigarettes are a billion times worse for you.
People have been saying for years that to legalize and tax weed would generate billions of tax dollars and eliminate TONS of crime and clear jails of pot offenders.
There is nothing wrong with eliminating a black market and utilizing it to payoff our debt.

I don't smoke either but I don't care if someone else does. I think it's a good idea for tax dollars, but it's a terrible idea when you think that some people will blaze their brains out and then try to drive all squinty-eyed down to the corner pizza shop or whatever.
If they could come up with some sort of roadside test for THC and kept the penalty the same as a DUI, then I'd say go for it in all 50 states.

At least Canada made it so you only get a ticket up here if you have 27.9 grams or under on you. I look at it like this.. Ticket the 98% of people who never have more than an ounce on them and just charge and possibly jail the growers and dealers. Ultimately, this is how the Canadian government starting making money off pot. I think this law just passed a few years ago.
Its still a pain having to pay a pot fine..i think they're either $150 or $250 but at least there is no criminal charge involved.
