looks like the artwork has been updated. Spine is much improved

That old visualization comes from the amazon.it product page, the much more updated FB page shows the grayish spine on the winning (revealed) artwork

Any news on the back. Is it scribbled all over in Italian, or is it clean?

I think it will be the very same french one, with the previously announced debossing work, but we don't know yet if it will be like the korean front artwork with the symbol debossed on a worn metal texture.

And here's a shot of the disc menu

Cheaper than the French version, my favourite artwork by far (prefer this to both the French and KimchiDVD art) and it's a 3 disk set instead of the French's 2? I couldn't care less if it doesn't have English subs. Pre-ordered :)

From their Facebook page (via Google Translate):

"Have you booked the Steelbook limited edition Snowpiercer - The Movie? Contains 3 discs: DVD + Blu-ray + Blu-ray disc with special content. The case has a matte painting, with some shiny details; in the back is the logo "Property of Wilford Industries" stamped into the metal in debossing.

Special Features: trailers, TV spots, promos, set design, visual effects, behind the scenes, the characters, press conference, photo gallery, "From comics to the big screen", concept art, animated prequel.

In short, an issue not to be missed! Book it here before it's sold out"

I really like the artwork so inspite of no english subs I will still keep my preorder. Will look great next to french one and kimchi version.;)

I've also decided to retain my order for the Italian steelbook edition, in spite of the lack of English subtitles. Apart from the superior artwork to the French, German and Korean releases, and the additional disc of extras, it's also a lot cheaper. It's now down to Eur 19.79 on amazon.it and once adjusted for UK VAT, the price is further reduced to Eur 19.46.

As the film has yet to obtain a UK cinema release, it's a blind buy for me on the basis of the positive reviews. I don't know how much of the dialogue is in Korean but hope that the Italian subtitles for those scenes will give me the gist of what is being said. Let's face it, once you've already established what has been said, there ceases to be an overriding need for English subtitles on subsequent viewings.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to receiving this, along with the Italian steelbook edition of "Pompeii" which is again quite reasonably priced (Eur 20.48) and yet to obtain a steelbook release anywhere else.

I saw this last night, a friend had purchased the French Steelbook and then remuxed the film with English subs.

I enjoyed it and am looking forward to owning the Steelbook - even without English subs you won't miss much, what's actually going on during the time Korean is spoken tends to be pretty self-explanatory plus honestly there's not much spoken during the film anyway, the vast majority is English.
