Welcome news for those who might have missed the limited to 3,000 digipack release . . . of course the steelbook can't hold a candle to the awesome digipack - one of the last great reasonably priced digipacks from Arrow (£17.99) before they switched to the cheapo and much less awesome Amarays in slipcases like the similarly priced PIECES :(

Same content on all three releases.

Artwork taken from the best of the original poster designs:-

Not to be forgotten (lol) . . . yup, a real laugh riot:-

Unfortunately there isn't a lot of artwork available, I suppose they could have commissioned something new or used the same art as the amaray and limited edition. I like the front art though as it is what I remember from the advertising in the UK, but the plain back is annoying
The back isn't plain? You can clearly see artwork (old 'Arse Face'!) on there

Love this artwork, shame Arrow didn't use it first time around, I'd have preferred it.

Oh my god!! I was not expecting this!!

You know everyone has that film that they randomly see when they were younger late at night and you have no idea what it is but you remember these odd scenes and it kinda haunts you. This did that to me and it took me about 10 years to find out what it was lol.

Happened to me and a mate and we managed to track it down a few years ago. Will be ordering this, so messed up

I got the Spanish set which featured this on the slipcase / Blu-ray cover and the current Arrow artwork on the reverse

^ The other decent poster.

Just imagining the embossed writhing and melding body parts of the slipcase edition artwork reproduced as the framed embossed artwork on a steelbook
Of course with Arrow was never going to happen
(in the same way was hoping to see the embossed writhing bodies / aliens of the Imax poster on the
ALIEN:COVENANT steelbook).

Quick reminder of the digibook, its contents and its artwork (the cardboard may be thin but 'tis beautifully embossed):-

IT IS A MATTER OF GOOD BREEDING. REALLY.

Spot Gloss On The Title Treatment

After producing Stuart Gordon’s hit Re-Animator, Brian Yuzna (Bride of Re-Animator, Return of the Living Dead III) turned his hand to directing with 1989’s Society, and gave birth to one of the ickiest, most original body horror shockers of all time.

Teenager Bill Whitney (Billy Warlock) has always felt like the odd one out in his wealthy, upper-class Beverly Hills family. For some reason, he just doesn’t seem to fit in. But his sense of alienation takes a sinister turn when he hears an audio recording of his sister’s coming-out party, which seems to implicate his family and others in a bizarre, ritualistic orgy. And then there are the strange things he’s been seeing – glimpses of people with their bodies contorted impossibly out of shape… Is Bill going mad or is there something seriously amiss in his neighborhood?

Packing stomach-churning grue and thought-provoking social commentary in equal measure, Society is a biting horror satire which culminates in one of the most gag-inducing “climaxes”’ in all of horror history.

Booklet: Collectors booklet featuring new writing on the film by critic Alan Jones, illustrated with original archive stills and posters.

For the steelbook another cool artwork would be this one . . .
Don't think it was ever approved . . . although I remember it in the mock-ups . . . from the greatest living horror film poster artist Graham Hunphreys:-

Regarding the Graham Humphreys artwork for the planned Second Sight release of SOCIETY and BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR there's this from Second Sight's Facebook page (27th October 2014)
"Unfortunately, and for reasons we are unable to go into, Second Sight will no longer be releasing Society and Bride of Re-Animator. However the good news for fans is that the films will be released by our friends at another specialist UK distributor so will be in good hands. Expect an announcement in the near future."

No need to feel sorry (lol) for Second Sight - even though they may not have been able to secure this and BoR-A they've secured some equally wonderful titles and released some very smart packages either in steelbooks or Amarays in slipboxes for BASKET CASE TRILOGY (SB), FROM BEYOND, ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (SB), THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 1974 (SB), BETTY BLUE, SCANNERS (SB), THE AMITYVILLE HORROR 1979 (SB), PIRANHA 1978 (SB), SOUTHERN COMFORT and of course RE-ANIMATOR (SB).

Ah yes I remember ordering this one, was cancelled I think. Might have been Second Sight were going to acquire the rights?

That's correct. Second Sight did aquire the rights and had Graham Humphreys do the artwork but then something happened and they lost the rights to Arrow.

Here is the original unreleased artwork
