I think it's totally fair and brilliant that the studios cater for most tastes considering the fact that steelbook collectors come in all shapes and sizes . . .
Speaking for myself I welcome a SPACE JAM steelbook, a SAUSAGE PARTY steelbook or an ANGRY BIRDS steelbook . . . as long as they continue to give me vintage and modern "classics" - with examples from this year including THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, RESERVOIR DOGS (again), TOMBSTONE, AUDITION, a brace of Studio Ghiblis, LAST ACTION HERO, KILL BILL 1 & 2, ADVENTURELAND, A FEW GOOD MEN, IP MAN TRILOGY, PLANET EARTH, AMELIE, QUATERMASS, THE MIST, INDEPENDENCE DAY restored, GHOSTBUSTERS original, STAR TREK 1 - X, The Harry Potters, STAND BY ME, TOP GUN, ALIENS, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, IN BRUGES, BEN-HUR (again), HOSTEL, BOYZ 'N' THE HOOD (x2), THE MUMMY, DRACULA 1931 and so on.
There may be nothing there from my favourite genres but I live in hope that one day I'll see steelbook releases for some of those too.
