"Speed" is loosly based on the Japanese movie "The Bullet Train" from 1975. There it is a train, that gets prepared with explosives. Like in "Speed" the train isn´t allowed to low down, otherwise it explodes. In opposite to "Speed" it are and two blackmailers (in "Speed" it´s only one), that plan and execute it. The one that executes the most things gets trapped and has to flee with a Motorcycle and there are much action scenes leading through the Tokio of the 70s. After that the train thing goes on and the similarities to "Speed" increase.
