As a whole it's still pretty expensive for films avaliable fairly cheaply.

Has anyone seen this set before? It seems to have been an Amazon exclusive limited editon collection of the films, it's £101 on Amazon but only about £50 on eBay.

It seems to have a lot, is it a better buy? I mean the steels are more than double (although I do love steels, they are expensive as a whole collection)

I have this, got it from amazon a few months ago for £33 all in, it was a warehouse special. Star trek stuff starts high in price, but always comes down a hell of a lot before going back up in price
Just like these steelbooks, they will drop in price. The waiting game

These will drop in price but will be depending on the print run and how many gets sold across various retailers
I'm surprised amazon UK not listed them yet

Problem though with a trade wide release is the retailer only has to order from the distributor as they get orders
All depends on how many Zavvi for example their buyer orders upfront they might only order as needed

If Zavvi had of had these as an exclusive you could have put your money on a decent price drop happening within 6 months as then they would have to taken a set amount of stock to get an exclusive

If these don't sell well with all retailers then the distributor will either drop the trade price or offer bulk unsold stock to a retailer at a reduced price if they take most of the stock which is usually Zavvi when that happens
Some retailers will drop the price before or after release date but to get usual big price drop it will require a retailer to take a large bulk amount of the stock

I have pre ordered for now but will most likely cancel before release date and wait until I see in hand photos/Videos

I really would like to know what the overall print run is of these in Europe

No such thing as a bad Star Trek film or episode only a less good one and some episodes that I could mention with either crew have been truly "stella

Would disagree, at least 30 of the episodes from the 5 shows I would never watch again and you couldn't pay me to watch the films "Star Trek The Final Frontier, Star Trek 2009 or Into Darkness. There is one Star Trek episode in particular from Voyager about a couple of the crew being turned into slugs. Truly up there in TV hell.
That's one of the reasons why I have been waiting for steelbooks as there are only certain of the films I want to buy.

Star Trek: The Motion picture
Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan.
The Voyage Home
The Undiscovered Country
First Contact.

I think the rest are very very poor. Still not happy at the logo on the steels so I might forgo The Wrath of Khan if it's not the new remaster.

I agree Star Trek The Final Frontier is not that great I fell asleep watching a preview showing in the cinema paramount invited me to see
All repeat viewings It was the same very strange film
I also fell asleep at the cinema preview showing for Star Trek 7 - Generations  but later viewing on DVD and Blu-ray I enjoyed
God knows what paramount thought of the 2 times at preview showings I fell asleep

I do like though the reboot film Star Trek 2009 film
Into the darkness was ok but not as good as the 2009 film

The Star Trek next generation TV series most of that TV series is very good
I did not like the other later TV series after generations as much

I actually bought this one back then. Nothing special IMO apart from the box. Of course it was waaaaaay cheaper back then :p

Please let me know if you remember how much this box was in 2009 when it first came out.

It's still quite cheap if you look around and if you don't mind an unsealed copy (cheap for a lovely box with 10 films in it that is . . . )
Best price I've found for this particular 11 BD set (10 BDs for the films + 1 BD for Special Features) is GBP 55 in "Very Good" condition and GBP 100 in "New & Sealed" condition.
Judging by the pics it's got to be a pretty impressive box - a real "statement piece" like the GODFATHER Bible or the HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Deluxe Edition Amazon Exclusive.

Latest (and final ?) Star Trek boxsets are these 50th Anniversary sets from The States released there in February - bound to be here soon and everywhere else too - to join the upcoming anniversary steelbooks in mid July.
This time the two sets split 6 ($34.99) + 4 ($24.99) in the way of the two really smart sets with see-through slipboxes from 2009.
As anniversary items not nearly as expensive as the steelbooks but of course not nearly as nice and priced @GBP 61.54 all inclusive (?) for both to get them from Amazon.US to my front door here in the U.K.
TBH no reason for me to buy these new sets as by all accounts they do not have the disc(s) for the Extras/Bonus material as found in previous collection sets (STARDATE etc.) so, in conclusion, an unworthy release with less content than previous sets and hardly to be recommended as long as the STARDATE set is still available for approx. 30 quid. Nice slipboxes though !!

The 50th Anniversary Box Sets are only missing the Bonus Discs
Original Motion Picture Collection (Bonus Disc Star Trek: The Captain’s Summit)
Next Generations Motion Picture (Bonus Disc Star Trek Evolutions)

All the other previous extras are still on the Individual Blu-ray Discs as before

These will most likely be available in the UK as well and will eventually drop in price

The Steelbooks will still sell for fans of steelbooks both existing collectors and new collectors to steelbooks

I suggest you re-read my post before trying to be clever.

To date I have not purchased any of the Star Trek films on HD bar that exclusive steelbook last year for The Wrath of Khan. I do think embossing the films with a 50th logo was a bad mistake. I would prefer a sticker I can remove from the packaging and would prefer the steels to be like the best buy exclusive from last year. It also means for people who only want specific films the logo embossed on the side is going to look very odd stacked on a shelf.

I had to check the order history for this. Hopefully Amazon's is more reliable than Zavvis. With shipping costs included, I paid £104.61 for it. I think I had a coupon or something. Few weeks later, the price went down to about 80 GBP, but it was only for a short time - enough time for me to headbutt my apartment to some additional m2 in size :banghead:

EDIT: Forgot to mention. I preordered it, so I paid the pre-order price, so I have no clue what the price was on release day.

Out of interest, do we really need each title to have a thread of its own?

There's 11 threads dedicated to the franchise, of which 8 or so have almost no posts in them. With a set like this, I'd have thought just a 'Star Trek Anniversary Steelbooks Megathread' would have done.

At least The Motion Picture director's edition has been cleared up.

It may not be common knowledge but after reading posts from knowledgeable contributors here and elsewhere it should be . . . that there isn't an HD edition of the DC of STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE anywhere on this planet (or of eight of the other Original and Next Generation Crews Star Trek films) and any error in the original mock-up is exactly that - an error - and if anyone wishes to read any more about why there is no HD edition of the DC of this film or of the differences between the TC and DC they can check out customer reviews on Amazon.UK for the above DVD or the following article :-

P.S. I believe there is an ongoing petition for STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE DIRECTOR'S EDITION on Blu-ray so good luck with that . . . and where do I sign?

Zavvi clearly the place for these and GBP 13.49 will not be beaten at pre-order by any other retailer.
Just a pity that a healthy discount isn't being offered for all 10 as a package :(

whats ths odds zavvi jacks them up a bit now :naughty::naughty::naughty:

glad i got my pre-order in already
