I think the best poster/art design is already being used for the front of the steel itself. All the other images are over used and don't really scream star wars. If they followed through with this and did the other movies with their main movie posters as artwork in full gloss then they'd be onto a winner. I don't think this needs slips, the steelbook is perfect on its own

Wow! I really like the Fullslip- although I wish it was the actual image on the steelbook itself.
Sadly, this is a hard pass for me- when a Steelbook uses the same artwork as the standard BluRay release, I just have to ask
"What was the point of this?" xD

1. this is still much better than what they came up the first time, if you still remember
2. on an amaray case you can't do embossing and full gloss ;)

Yeah- it is better but.. only marginally. And the $8 Price Point versus the $60 price point is something to take in to consider as well.
And regardless of whether or not the steelbook has gloss and bossing- you can emboss as bad design as much as you want- that doesn't make the design any better. xD
That's the whole reason I didn't go for the BluFans Civil War... it had a poorly designed front cover. If I'm going to drop money on a high quality steelbook release like something from BluFans, I don't want to drop money on lazy, recycled, generic cover art.

@FN-2187 for $ 60 you get the same artwork (whether it's a lazy and generic one or not) on a steelbook with a finish on a totally different level than a amaray plastic case, a lenti/full slip and tones of extras. So you can't really compare like that.
I don't share your opinion about this artwork and Civil wars being bad/poorly designed. But hey, it's your good right not to like them, and you can pass this as hard as you wish ;)

I just wish retailers would stop slapping onto the steelbook ''a movie poster of the film'' and call this WEA

...but of course this means Disney's easy Approval :wacky:

I am sure you will be in the minority with not liking poster arts on the Steelbook. To me, if the poster art is good there should be no concerns with using it on the Steelbook.

They can use the artistic elements and photoshopped images on the slips or on the art cards / booklet.

It's happening again.........

But when a steelbook is outside the box (ie the Guardians of the Galaxy steelbook), there are groups of people who make their hatred of it known and say they just want a movie poster on the front.

You can't really call them lazy if they don't have artistic freedom to do whatever they want. I'm sure if Disney let them, they could make all sorts of creative designs. But that is not Disney's prerogative.

Don't matter is the image is poster art or any art, if it hasn't been used on a steel then it's classed as WEA :wacky:

I think everyone wants the official poster art on a Star Wars steel, shame it's on the back for the other 6 but still good IMO that it's on the steels

I would however like to see those Olly Moss or Dan Mumford art works on them one day too (or slips)

Is that ''course 101'' on what is a WEA Steelbook ?

Oh, and you do think as well that everyone wants the official poster on the steel ?

you sure do seem to know a lot of things

Thank you ;)

I'm just going by the backlash when the other 6 came out a few years back. A huge majority wanted the original posters.

The original poster arts of Star Wars have always been fan favourites and the love was no different from when blufans changed their awful kylo art to this current art. Says a lot really

But yeah I did find your comment odd -

"just wish retailers would stop slapping onto the steelbook ''a movie poster of the film'' and call this WEA "

Which is why I said it don't matter if it's old, new, orginal etc

Fair point!

Give me original poster art on a steelbook any day over some made up photoshopped crap! Original poster art beats everything 99% of the time

Couldn't agree more. Also, if the poster art happens to be the same as what's on the standard amaray box then I really don't care. It's not like I'm buying the steelbook AND the amaray and wanted some variety. They nearly always use poster art on the amaray because that is what 99% of customers will see when they make a purchase and so they generally make sure it is the best art available.
