I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned it, but I just got a copy for 25 quid at Amazon. They advertised it at 30 quid, but at check out, I got it for 25. Order 4, 2 of each. Total was 100 quid + 6 for shipping. The same order at Zavvi costed 157 quid. Needless to say, I cancelled Zavvi. Can't believe my damn luck sometimes, saved roughly $85 Cdn on this. Its all official, I got the receipt and everything.

I take it you're not from the UK or the EU? They remove the VAT if you aren't. Goes for all Amazons.

That would be me! I can't believe Amazon UK would treat foreigners better that their own people lol. At 25 quid, I don't know how much better you can do honestly. I'm extremely happy either way.

And by ordering from Amazon with the links in the OP release thread, you help/support HDN too, so :scat:

According to all websites that you can order this from, the region coding is B/2. Which means it may not play on Region A or C Blu-Ray players. So far, I have had a few BD's from the UK that play on my BD player in the U.S. I hope this will still play, but there's no guarantee unless we confirm it will be region free.

You can't trust what many of these sites state in their listings though.

For example ... Amazon lists the 9 disc box set as 'Region B' which is completely WRONG as all of the discs have A,B.C printed on them.

If the 9 disc boxset is anything to go by then it's almost certain that these steelbook versions will also be region free.

Well actually they dont treat them any better then treating the EU members.

Its not fair for you to pay 2 vats now is it ? Your not paying the UK Vat but problerbly will get hit with Canadas taxes so your paying VAT one way or another. I dont know what the "free limit" is for Canada , i only know here in Germany it is very low "around 25 Euros" .

Just my 2 cent worth.

Ps. i personally dont like the artwork of these and am hoping they release elsewhere with different artwork :naughty::naughty:

Take care
John

Never. I've never paid any kind of taxes or custom fees when importing steels from abroad. I don't know if I'm just lucky or what. Maybe each country has its own policies on what items have duties and taxed attached to them, and which items don't.

The US limit is something like $1000/year so much better than the UK! Limit for commercial items is £15 or gifts is £36, then you pay VAT of 20% and usually a £10 handling fee on top!!!

You've been very lucky then, because imported items in Canada are only duty free if their value is below CAN$20 (see: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/postal-postale/duty-droits-eng.html). For the US it's below $200, but they will only really start bothering you when the value is over $2000 (see: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/internet_purchases.xml).

Luckily, the EU and UK have an agreement, so I can import beauties like these import-free :scat:.

Hmmm, thats news to me, and I'm Canadian lol. Rest assured, I've imported steels from Japan, Play, German, Sweden, ect not a custom charge on any of them.

Gotta agree on that point... never been charged for taxes on steelbook.

BUT, on larger item (such as Sideshow collectibles), if they go thru UPS or any other carrier than Canada Post, I'm assured to get hit thought... and it's gonna be 15%...

And finally, if this discussion continue, we'll have to move it to another section regarding customs fees... back to Star Wars?

Glad to see that theres another member who agrees. I'm not saying there isn't any duty on these, I'm just saying that I've never been charged. The only thing I can think of is if you said the item as DVD's or Blu rays, and declared a value of $300 on it. The customs officer might just as well thought that the sender made a mistake by adding an extra 0. To him or her, a blu ray movie is worth $20-$30, not $300. Not everybody is a die hard steel collector. People just don't know.

I'm in the same boat. Ordered steels from JPN and CHN that were delivered by DHL but no custom charges. I must be fortunate then.

Anyways to stay on topic, not big fan of SW nor artwork of this steel.
