Hahaha, could you imagine?! That would be DUUUUBIOUS!!

This is all pretty eFF'ed up if you are asking me. So sell out in less than an hour and they have 1.5k print slowly tucked in their sleeves ready for dispatch 2 weeks later. Yes Zavvi, very clever and sneaky. Hyping the 1000 print run when in reality it was probably 4k for all we know. Todd @blu-steel is right, there is no way to confirm what the print run really is...

Has Zavvi (or the studio) admitted that they are printing more?

Where was that confirmed?

If they are doing this, then what other steelbooks have they done this with? Where does this end now?

I have lost whatever respect I had for Zavvi if this has been confirmed........

This isn't the first time zavvi have extended a print run (if that's the case for this steel) and other retailers have done it too

Jungle book and possibly little
Mermaid were extended print runs

I have a feeling the orginal toy story and a few other pixars were too like up due to them being free through Disney rewards but that's just a guess

wtf! are they allowed to state "pre-order" and then ship it the same hour? what if i don't have the money ready now, or want to place my order now, and decide later if to keep or cancel?

Yep I was thinking the same. I had to cancel and re-order with a different card which actually has some money in lol. Saw Dec pre-order date thought plenty of time for money to come in and now everyone's getting ready for dispatch!

as far as i remember some pixar steelbooks had in fact a print run <4000 because of some defective / damaged / misprint copies. i believe wreck stated this information a long time ago. but again, info coming from zavvi, who knows if you can trust or not...

The plot thickens.

How can the studio decide to sell more on the back of the sell out, when the sellout was only a few weeks ago, but already Zavvi have them manufactured, produced and now ready to ship???

You are right, Some were damaged and I believe something like planes turned out to be the rarest in terms of amount of copies lol (Which is odd because it was free on Disney rewards - I refused to buy it but then a while after I had points about to run out and ended up getting it for free)

But jungle book was definately extended and I think mermaid too

I always thought in "some" cases damaged copies might be returned for replacements or extra is printed anyway just in case of damages and after a few months of initial release once most copies customers have bought and the majority or returns processes are completed they might get those copies to sell also (again just a guess/ hunch)

If I can remember correctly they were an 8K print run. But I cannot recall when it was 'increased'. I thought that was the actual print run. I think the difference with this is they sell out, give a Dec pre-order date again, but have stock loads ready for dispatch.
